I have had in the past an occasional end of auction e-mail to my buyer that never got delivered and usually it was to an AOL address. Apparently AOL does not bounce mail back (or at least I don't get them back), so I never know until contacted by buyer that EOA e-mail has not reached them. Suddenly I am having a problem getting messages to AOL users at all. I send out EOA's within an hour of auction close and today I have already had 3 e-mails from AOL users that won auctions Friday wanting EOA info. I have sent these thru Send This Auction To A Friend and hopefully they will receive them this time but does anyone know if there is some AOL glitch that has become more majorly (probably not a real word, sorry) glitchy in the last couple weeks? Thanks for any input.

Do you use Earthlink as your ISP? I do, and found that AOL does often refuse to accept email from Earthlink addys. And like yours they don't bounce back--they just disappear into the ether.

I finally just started using a free email addy through Angelfire to send EOAs to buyers using AOL. That way I am sure they will receive them.

This is a major problem that I experience often, too! It is always the AOL people who don't get my EOA's. Only them! Everyone else has no problem. I don't know what is up w/ AOL's mail software, but it is hard on a person's business when people think you are ignoring them!!

Wanted to add - I don't believe the ISP that you use makes much of a difference - I have had this problem with 3 different ISP's and my free hotmail account! Gotta' be on their end...

I've had the same problem in the past. I solved it by using another ISP such as Yahoo or comservuniverse with copy to my isp and instructions to reply to my isp. Always solved the problem.

I have 2 solutions to this one:

1. Convince AOL to close down completely, since they peddle a worthless piece of garbage, or

2. State in your TOS that AOL bidders cannot bid.

Problem solved!

BTW, that was a joke. I have had the same problem, although I believe the "send Auction to a friend" does work to fix it, since it is eBay sending the email and just placing your email addy in the address line.

AOL users can block all email except from people they list, and they can block email from anyone that is not an AOL user. A lot of new people set their mail this way, thinking they will have less risk of downloading viruses. They don't think about the fact that any mail from ebay, either official email, or email from a seller, will not get to them. You can get AOL Instant Messenger for free, and try to catch them online to send an instant message. If you get ahold of them, it might be a good idea to let them know if they are going to use ebay, they might want to change their email settings.

Yes AOL's spam filters are at it again. This has been going on now for about 2 weeks now. It usually rears it head about 2-3 times a year. What I've also noticed this time around, is that I'm not receiving emails from AOL'ers who have said that they have sent me numerous emails as well. Could be a little bit more to this problem, than with others in the past. Remember that this same thing applies to cs.com members as well, as wonderful AOL has ruined their email system as well. Just wondering how many negatives and $$'s lost, this problem will cause everyone this time?

all i can say is ,oh no not again. the only thing that worked last time was the send auction to a friend feature.
this happens every couple of months with aol.

I will never in a cabillion trillion years figure out why anybody over the age of 4.6 years would saddle themselves with AOSMELL!

If a total PC dolt like me can easily use the REAL internet, anybody can!

PLUS, didn't they just raise their outrageous rates last month?

I get them ole cosmic heebie-jeebies whenever I see an AOHELL winner

I just finished this evenings EOA e-mails and of those I had 5 AOL winning bidders. I sent each a regular e-mail and also backed up all 5 with a send this auction to a friend e-mail. Hope this covers it!!....It can get kinda' sceeeery when you don't know if the winning bidders are getting EOA's!!!
