Half.com blows... As a seller, they do not allow you to communicate with the buyer. They will not give you the buyers email address after the auction has ended.
In my case, I sent the book to the wrong buyer and could not contact the buyer to explain the delay. The other buyer that received the wrong book fortunately was a repeat customer so had my email address to let me know.
It took a long time for the customer to contact me so that I could straighten out the problem... What a pain!
Also, you only get about 35 characters to describe an item...
Also while there is no fees they charge 15% FVF! Ouch...
Oh yeah... It takes about 30 days after the deal is done to get paid!!! No wonder ebay bought Half... 15% fee, don't pay sellers for 30 days, not much disk space needed...
For buyers it's okay, there are some good deals, but I've gotten stung on several CD's that are supposed to be in "like new" condition and they skip all over the place...
I've had pretty good results buying some books but as a seller, NO WAY...
The only good thing is they don't charge a listing fee up front.

darrelll, I believe they now allow you communicate with buyers. I think that they have added a Delivery Confirmation required for a refund on clause to sellers. If a buyer says he or she never got the item then they take that money out of your account. I quit listing there several months ago when that happened to me. It costs too much to send the items with DC, plus the fact that there are sellers giving away their items for next-to-nothing.

who said half, com has 15 million items ??
i browse there and most titles are out of stock!!
of course now if they have abe.com ,thats different .
abe.com books are not cheap,now with a 15% markup,can they compete??
bibilofind is also used book site owned by amzn, but there is no markup becasue it is not folded into marketplace?
so now you have bibiliofind versus 115% of abe.com books?

I've actually moved all books from half.com to amazon - I know they charge more for selling, but at least they are selling! Stuff sat on half.com forever. Also, most things I am selling are listed for more at amazon, I think they have much more traffic.

I used to do pretty well on half.com, even though I've never had large inventories. It's really fallen off these past couple of months, and I am unsure why. I normally list on both Amazon and half.com so when they sell on Amazon and not on half, routinely, it makes me wonder about half.
I just found a large number of brand-new, just-published non-fiction hardcovers at a thrift, and loaded them all on Amazon. I figured I'd also list on half when I had an opportunity, but seems I won't have to bother because I"ve already sold nearly half of them on Amazon. In one day.
