Hi,

I was wondering if we could get a consensus on when the best time to open/close an auction on ebay, for maximum number of bidders/snipers. I open my auctions usually between 1-2 pm pacific time, because it seems to me that it's better to get people when they're at work and in front of a computer. However, I'm not sure if that's necessarily the best. Anybody with their two-cents worth?

When the price is right...is my first answer!

Most people I know are monitored at work for the internet usage and ebay is grounds for termanation, as is any non work related site.

I personally believe it depends on what you sell. For myself I close in the evening, M-T. Over the past 2 years I have watched my daily numbers and Friday, Saturday and Sunday rarely had any action so I no longer use them.

Many folks love Sunday....Many hate Sunday.

You need to research you items. Look at the completed, check the sold for amount and the ending day and time if you are concerned about it.

Most bids come the last 5 minutes no matter when it closes...that's my two cents.

The best times for my items are Saturday evenings, Sunday afternoons, or Monday mornings. Why? I have no idea. This is what I have noticed through trial and error. It probably depends on what you are selling.

I learn the most from monitoring my own auctions and have varied the starting times, as well as other things like two categories, and gallery pictures, etc. If you pay close enough attention, you'll see a trend very quickly.

Sundays do seem to be a hot ending day, right around noon. I am still giving the Monday morning begin times a try since I've heard other people suggest it as well.

But just for the sake of great tips, I will reveal my secret hot tip from years of past experience as eBay's most devoted auction shopper. I dropped the most money during my lunch hour, at work (or whatever time the auction was ending throughout the day, as necessary). Not everyone can do this of course. But I'm sure a good amount of them do anyway. And I remember 6:00 P.M.being the worst time to end because a lot of people are still on their way home.

Also, I would think having your auction begin at 11:00 or 12:00 noon or some other easy time to remember would an advantage. I just never remember to do it!
