Has anyone used kturn.com as web hosting. I like the AW listing software but would like to find a photo hosting site where I wouldn't be losing my pictures in 90 days. I like to keep them and relist at intervals until items are sold.

It's my understanding that AW only deletes your images if they are not viewed in 90 days. If someone, even yourself, looks at them they will not be deleted. If you want a more secure way to backup your images, I'd suggest getting a zip drive, or tape backup or a second hard drive and do your backups locally. That would be more cost-effective in the long run, and you don't have to worry about the company going dot-bomb.
90 days is a reasonable time frame to get images off AW's servers. Using the ebay example, anyway, you don't see auctions over 90 days old anymore. If you had some legit reason you could probably do up a script to load all the images once every 90 days so they'd not be deleted. I can't think of any good reason to want to do that, though.

Hi LindaJean, I use readyhosting.com for my photo hosting. I FTP all my images to the server and then point to the URL in my auctions. With 500Mb, I don't think I'll ever run out of space. Feel free to write me at sun818[at]techgems.net if you have questions...

sun818 -- thanks, I will check them out tomorrow and may email you.
petertdavis--I list lots of items and, unfortunately, some may not sell first time around. I wait a while to relist when I get new stuff up of the same type and I save the rest for free listing days -- that involves a longer time frame than 90 days. When items sell I delete photos immediately but if not I don't want to have to start from scratch when I decide to try again.

No problem. I also suggest looking at ehost.com if you do not want any upfront costs or want a short term committment (2 months).

Can you tell me how long you have been with readyhosting and if they have been down at all. Also, do you see a problem with the home page being on one site linking to pictures on readyhosting. Not sure if I want to move the domain name again.

I remote link all my eBay auction images through an account at readyhosting and have had no issues. Since the three months I've been with them, no downtime that I could tell.
My recommendation goes only for using their service for basic web hosting such as FTP, static web pages, and light ASP/ColdFusion. Their technical support is the worst I've ever encountered, so do not expect timely support, if at all. But for $99/year for 500MB it is an excellent price for image hosting. New domains cost one time setup fee of $50.

Thanks again. I am using Fatcow for my main host. However, I am looking to add more space. The 500mb on Readyhosting sounds tempting.
Also, Fatcow has tremendous support. So maybe the optimal cheap solution is to put the pages on Fatcow and the images on Readyhosting. Also, will not require an extra charge for domain name.
