i would say closer to 80% for me of course this is a total guess becouse I never really thought about it till I saw your question
It used to bother me but not anymore I don't really worry about it till the auction is over
I have seen no bids for 9 days 23 hours then 5 or 6 for a nice ending price.
spock here......

I can provide statistics for my eBay auctions, which are in a fairly specialized category of Books. Still, they may be an indication of the answer to your question (roughly 50% of final bids are on the last day of my auctions, and roughly 5% in the last minute)!

Check out this URL:

A more complete listing of statistics can be found at this site:

Hope that this helps!

I seldom list for more than 5 days. Reason being that on an average about 20% of the bids come on the first day and 80% on the last day regardless of the length of auction. If they dont sell the first time around, I just relist and they (allmost)always go the second time around. Might not work for everyone but after 4 years it's what works best for me.

My stuff gets bids when it is in the "New Today" category and on the last day, most in the last 5 minutes. Occasionally I'll get a mid-auction bid from buyers I would bet are doing keyword searches. I don't think anyone has the patience to scroll through the whole "current" list.

I used to think 10 day auctions brought more exposure and, theoretically, more bids. But I am thinking now that it just gives a longer time for people who put it on their watch list Day 1 to lose interest in it. When I return in September I won't do anything longer than 7 days and will experiment with 5 and even 3 day auctions.

I still haven't passed that milestone where you realize checking your auctions 10 times a day is frustrating and stressful. I presume that will come with more experience. I would love to post them and then forget about them until they end.

Hi

I bet Packer has a word or two about 10 day auctions. Packer? You there?
