Hello. Is it us or is there been a lot of non payers lately? Since July 8th, we have 35 people who did not pay for items they won on our auctions. Anyone else having any trouble? After reminding them, most dont even reply back! Getting real frustrating!!

I am not getting many bids, but of those that I actually do get - a few have been non-paying. It is very frustrating!!

Blurocks-

Great...Ain't it?
Welcome to online selling..huh.
We get it often or buyers "forget"...anyway,the good outweighs the bad for us.

Yes. I was meaning to post about this myself, it's so noticeable. Some folks have lots of excuses, others just never make contact at all. It does feel like more than usual..

Me too--slow sales and more than usual non-bidders, many of them with low or negative feedback. Maybe it's just the summer. I hope.

I went from having none to having a bunch. Right now I've filed 3 for final value fees, 3 are teetering on the edge and one has written me a check on a closed account. This was all in July. I don't run that many auctions, so that was a lot for me. When you remind them, they get miffed!! Geez. Don't bid if you don't want to pay, right?

I haven't had any deadbeats this summer (yet), but payments are coming in much more slowly than usual. And communication from buyers has decreased...I get no acknowledgement of my EOA email, and then a check or money order or online payment just pops up. I think people are just busier in the summer having fun (whatever that is) and pay less attention to their responsibilities.

I suppose having the money just appear is better than having the buyer who keeps promising to pay and then just never does.

On the upside, school will open back up soon. This should help things out when the stay home moms start getting more free time again,

Last summer I was relatively new to selling so when I started getting more deadbeats at that time I thought it was just me.

But this summer I notice that the deadbeat ratio increased also compared to the school months, so it's probably just a seasonal hazard.

And slower sales makes the problem seem even worse IMO.

But it'll pass...

Yes I have had several auctions with bidder who didn't pay this summer. It is very frustrating.

I have also noticed an increase in the number of bidders who have just registered. Lots of Zeros. If they don't pay, I neg them.

If they decide to retaliate, I don't care anymore because If someone looks closely, I ship fast and ship good stuff.

I have 1 negative and 127 positives. A pretty good ratio I think.

I am tempted to close my auctions to people who don't have at least 10 Positives, but I hate doing that to, because there are alot of new people who are honest and deserve a chance.

What to do?????????

I ASSUME MOST OF THE POSTS SO FAR ARE FROM THE USA.
WELL I AM ALSO GETTING LOTS OF NON PAYING BIDDERS IN THE UK.
MY SALES ARE FLYING SO THATS OK.
BUT AS YOU ALL SEEM TO BE SAYING THERE HAS BEEN AN INCREASE JUST LATELY IN NON PAYERS.
PLUS A LACK OF RESPONSE TO MY FIRST EMAIL
WHEN THE ITEM ENDS.
I NOW PUT IN MY ITEM DETAILS THAT IF THEY DONT PAY/CONTACT/WHATEVER IN 10 DAYS I WILL RELIST ITEM.
I WILL ALSO HAVE FILED A NON-PAYING BIDDER.
ALSO I MAY BID ON THEIR AUCTIONS IN THE FUTURE,AND WASTE THEIR TIME AND MONEY.
WHICH SEEMS A FAIR OPTION.
I LOVED AUCTIONWATCH BEFORE THEY REMOVED EBAYS LISTINGS.

Bigbrian. Very sorry to learn of your problems with UK buyers. I guess I am very suprised and can I apologise for the majority of UK Buyers. My latest problems arise as US buyers think postage to UK is same as internal US mail.

I have had a number of nonpaying bidders lately. I have had 2 NPB from the UK in the last month. I am almost thinking of not allowing international bidding anymore. They don't inform me that they are international at the EOA, when I send out a Billpoint invoice and an email of my own. When they do send me their addresses, and I resend invoices and emails, they refuse to pay after finding out the shipping internationally is sometimes 3x the amount in the US. How have you guys handled this problem?

Strangely enough the only non-pay I've had in the last couple of months is from a seller who has FB of over 500. They won't even reply to my email. I usually give the benifit of doubt, perhaps they had emergency trip, etc. But I've checked thier activity and there have been listings, and FB left for others. Go figure.

Non payers (ironically, 4 software programs were sold recently and they did not pay, and both buyers are NARU now) - Also, I have had lots of problems with email now working - Auction Notification Messages bouncing - weird, these used to be so rare, now I seem to get them more and more...
