First, my apologies if this subject has already been covered. I deal primarily with clothing and there is plenty of competition. Just to get a "look see" I plan on experimenting with catch words in the title ~ I am trying Free (and definitely including something for free); Bonus (and again adding something); $1NR. Would anyone care to share any words they feel have been instrumental in getting people to at least look? Even with my designer clothing...the competition is fierce! Thanks.

What get's my attention most is when the size is posted in the title.
I'm not big on free items or bonuses of any sort, so use of those words in a title would probably not impress me, or worse, would make me feel that the item wasn't all that good if something else had to be added to the listing as a "go with!"

I have only had one foray into clothes but it was a learning experience. This summer I have been buying jackets that I plan to sell this fall, hopefully when prices go up.
Before I buy an item I check completed auctions to see if it sells. With jackets that has been easy as nobody seems to be buying them at Goodwill during the summer.
Also I got a good piece of advice from another seller in this forum. It was to offer a refund minus shipping because you realize it is difficult to purchase clothes without trying them on and you offer a money back guarantee for the purchase price only if the clothes are returned in a timely fashion in the same condition as they received them. Certainly a bidder will buy from you rather than a seller who sells the same item without a return policy.
This will give them confidence in you as a seller. For most people it's a hassle to pack and ship and they already have an investment in shipping so most of the time you won't get returned merchandise.
Try the bonus or free thing you mentioned if ebay allows it. A little experimentation never hurts in the long run.

If you can do the FREE or BONUS thing, I'd give it a shot. All the infomercials do, and they seem to be doing fine.
Positive upbeat wordings work. Notice eBay named one of their features "Buy It Now!" not "one bid takes it" or "don't let anyone else get this."

You can include bonus or gift with your auction, but it must be unconditional so that any bid is unconditionally on the whole package. I have ended an auction a couple of times by saying, "Oh, by the way, here is a xxxxxxxx to go with it". Or, and I'm including the original box .....". Seems to get more interest for me. For clothes maybe it could be a sports bag or a piece of costume jewelry, whatever you could find at low cost to you.

Hi there -- I like this thread!! I have dabbled both in buying and in selling clothing.
DEFINITELY put the size in the title if possible.
I like the idea of "refund of bid price only" if it doesn't fit. Offering free shipping is a good idea, too. Better, to my way of thinking, than "bonus" items.

FREE and BONUS will get your auctions ended in a hurry!
Here's why, direct from ebay......
***Bonuses, giveaways, raffles and prizes
Listings that promote bonus items, giveaways, or random drawings or prizes as an enticement for buyers are not permitted on eBay as these promotions are highly regulated and may be unlawful in many states.

I would list the designer name, type of item, color, size, NR (no reserve)
and either Ladies, Mans or Childs. also if it is new or used. for example,
"Ladies, Dress-Chaus-Red-s12-NR-New"
If the title has all this infor and it is what I need, I would look, since there
is sooooo much clothing I would find doing it this way saves the buyer time.
Unless they are just browsing
