As a long time seller on ebay, I am increasingly frustrated with their cavalier attitude and how they answer to no one but themselves. I think it is time that we as sellers get together and start an organization of some sort.

Also, I think sellers should have the right to bid there own merchandise up. The reason for this is simple. If you look at most of your auctions most of the bidding takes place in the final hours prior to closing. This indicates to me that 1)either buyers are becoming more sophisticated or 2)Snipe software (software used to send in a bid just before an auction is to close) is become more prevalent. I think this artificially and systematically lowers the final auction bid price. Which is why I am advocating bidding on your own merchandise. At least this way you don't have to get stuck selling your merchandise for a riduculously low price....

Just a thought!

Just a thought!

Have you ever thought of...

A) Setting a reserve.

or

B) Setting the opening bid at a price that is not ridiculously low.

Just a thought.

We put a widget up for auction and take our chances. That's the way it is and that's the way it should stay IMO. As long as all sellers are playing on a level field, I see no reason for changes.

Bid shilling is also illegal and unethical in the real world of auctions as well.

I wouldn't want to have to bid against the seller...somehow that just seems...stupid!

I agree something needs to be done, ebay is out of control as they know they have a monopoly. Hopefully the Government steps in and slaps there wrist (ie Microsoft); until then I certainly understand where your coming from Yoda.

As for ezinkjetstore's reply, if you think this practice doesn't occur in real world auctions, you're pretty naive. While not condoning this behavior, I can understand it from a sellers point of view.

I believe ezinkjetstore said that it was "illegal and unethical", not that it didn't happen.

What a brilliant idea! I'm AMAZED someone hasn't thought of it before now.

Or as July Garland used to say to Mickey Rooney:

"I know what Mickey, we can put on a SHOW..."
