My bank just rejected a pink Candadian Postal money order.
I had used the ATM to deposit, because I had them sitting here too long, so did it on a weekend, this morning found I had a debit of the amount for that money order. (I have online banking)
I called, and all they would tell me is they'll be sending it back to me.
Now I have another one, the exact kind
Its pink with yellow white in the center, they were both marked US next to the amount.
Are international money orders what most banks do accept? I've had personal checks (cheques) from Canada with the US written in next to the amount with no trouble, but my bank changes its rules all the time.

I have deposited numerous canada postal money orders and had no problems.
All I would say is remember that these days the position of bank clerk/teller is not a "professional" position any longer. Those folks make about $7/hr and don't give a hill of beans about your bounced money order. Call your bank branch manager and complain.

I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago. Each time I deposited a pink Canadian postal money order payable in US dollars it was returned to me as an "unprocessable item." And, each time the money order was accepted when I presented it in person.
I thought the problem was the ATM people thought it was payable in Canadian dollars (since you have to look closely at the money order to determine the currency), but that's not the case.
The real reason (which took me a bunch of emails to find out) is the encoding on the bottom of the money order isn't readable by the equipment used to process ATM checks. The only solution (barring a change by the Canadian postal service) is to present the money orders in person to a teller.
As a result, I'm encouraging my Canadian buyers to send cash registered. If any send the pink money orders, at least I know why I can't deposit them at an ATM.
Yeah figured it was the ATM deposit that did it. I did call, and the 'operator' for the bank didn't know a thing about Canadian money orders or checks....duh
So when they return it, I'll just take it to the bank teller in person. So far as I know, they haven't charged me, if they do, you bet I'll complain till I get it re credited!
Is there a difference with the pink ones and the international ones being processed for deposit only in an ATM?

Yes, same issue here. As was mentioned in a previous post, the encoding at the bottom left of the check/mo is the problem. If it was drawn on a US bank, it would be 9-digits, as are your personal checks. A Canadian Postal Money Order has 10-digits, and can not be read by the automated equipment, plus, it is drawn on a non-US bank. My bank has to send it to their Canadian broker to "cash" it and then they charge me $3.00 on top of that as a service fee. The whole process takes about 3 weeks. I wish I would have known that I could take a CDN MO to the local PO and cash it! Well, now I do...

All Canadian Postal MO's are the same color. What you have to look for is that the currency is in US Dollars. Then your Post Office will cash it, and so will some banks.

Yes, it has US$ then ** then the amount.
It says Postal Money Order, then right next to that it says Mandat-poste
Yes I know, French
On the bottom for the routing or whatever numbers, I count 18 plus the symbols...
