I'll be starting up auctions again soon and I'm wondering which online payment service do most buyers seem to prefer? BillPoint? Paypal? Others? Which do you as a seller prefer to use?

Right now, my buyers are split pretty evenly among BP, PP, and checks/money orders. Haven't seen a definate trend in any direction....THOUGH, I have noticed fewer PayPal than in the past.

I like to pay by check.
I offer check/mo/ppal to my buyers. I don't hold checks under $20 at all, and mostly don't hold them over $20 except as a passive/agressive reaction to slow payment.

Right now, out of every 10 payments, I'm getting something like this: (1) by PayDirect, (2) by cash, (3) by check and (4) by money order.

Love to use PayPal as a buyer and seller. Yahoo's PayDirect is okay as a seller but many buyers have trouble using it. Never hold checks and they offer buyers any excellent way to track their payment.

On ebay I'm getting mostly billpoint (might have something to do with my ebaystore though, kinda heavily promoted by ebay)
Next paypal, then checks & money orders.
At Amazon even though 1-click is expected I get more asking for paypal and or checks & money orders.

PayPal use is trending upward. Running about 50% this summer. Fewer and fewer personal checks. MOs steady.

HOnestly, I would say about 60% are paypal and the rest are checks and money orders. I prefer paypal because I need the money as soon as possible to go and reinvest. I don't mind the small fee as it is still cheaper than getting a merchant account and easier. I use the debit card with them and get 1.5% cash back so that helps a lot with paying ebay, shipping fees, etc.
I don't accept billpoint, used to but it was too time consuming.
Good luck.

I won't even bid on an item under $100. unless the seller takes Pay Pal or Bid Pay.

About 25% of my bidders prefer not to pay at all. But, of the ones that do pay, here's how it breaks down:
30% Paypal
25% Billpoint
20% Money Orders/Cashiers Check
20% Check
4% Cash
1% Achex, PayDirect, MoneyZap, BidPay, C2it, AOL Quick Cash & Paying Fast.
Paypal is steady dropping and Billpoint payments are picking up. All the other online payment services are dead.

Paypal now makes up 75% of my payments, 25% check and MO, and less than 1% other services.

As a buyer, I prefer to pay by check too. I refuse to use any online payment service that requires buyers to register.

95% of my customers pay via check or MO, the rest use BidPay.
I have never offered PayPal, and dropped Billpoint several months back.
When I did offer Billpoint, less than 20% of my high bidders used that service.

Well in the past four months almost everyone has said that they wanted to pay by MO, now, that doesn't mean that they actually paid. I've had one buyer on PayPal, one on PayDirect and two use ProPay

Check or money order. Luckily, getting a money order isn't hard for me since the post office is around the corner from my house.

With all the fuss lately about chargebacks, I can see sellers not taking paypal...but I don't know why any seller would refuse to use bidpay. To the seller, it's a western union money order.

PayPal and Billpoint.
I see so many sellers who are having/have had so many problems with PP that I haven't used either one as a seller. But as a buyer, I love having such a quick online way to move the trade along faster.

When I buy something I want it. Using a Credit card in any way is preferrable because it's the least fuss. It's annoying to go get a money order, write out a letter, mail it, etc. I just don't have the time. Then there are the crazies that want "postal money orders only". I don't even bid. This guy thinks I'm gonna drive to the PO for a money order, print out an order, mail it to him, all for what??? To save 5% over Amazon.com or someplace similar? You want to sell something, you make it as easy as you can to sell it.

Recently I've been getting:
40% Paypal
10% Billpoint
50% by Check, MO, Cash - I don't keep a specific count of the breakdown, but probably about 50/50 check/MO with very few cash payments
And I just got my first Bidpay payment for the first time in a long time.

As an International seller I just love Paypal.
Have been paid for my auctions five minutes after the Auction ends. Your lot is in first mailing from UK to USA. I know that many of my buyers have had my lots from UK quicker than from USA sellers.
