I have a customer who wants her package sent to her in Japan, by Air Mail, and by a means that can be tracked.
I have never had to send a package outside of the U.S. by a means that had to be tracked, so I'm not sure the best way to do this?
I usually ship all international packages by USPS Global Priority Mail. Can you track a Global Priority package? I looked at the USPS website and I only see an option for "certificate of mailing".
Does anyone know how I can ship this by Airmail, and with a tracking number?

Hi Executive Girl...we must have both sold something to the same Japanese buyer.
The only way to track an international package (according to my post office) is to send it Air Mail express REGISTERED which requires it to be signed for all along the way. Costs a fortune. The poor thing had had a couple of shipments disappear on her but I convinced her that nothing she bought from me was worth spending that kind of money to track (a couple of pieces of Pyrex worth about $50). Bad enough the postage alone was 70 for air mail parcel post.

Thanks for the info! I just checked the USPS website again, and for Express Mail my only option was to insure it, but it didn't say anything about tracking, or "registering" it. For Express Mail alone it would cost $29 (almost the price of the item), and that does include insurance for $500. Do you know if that insurance is trackable?
I would much rather just send this package Global Priority.

I have sent Express Mail Intl to numerous countries and noticed that recently I have been getting full tracking info. Before the tracking would say "04 AUG Your Package left the country" and then stop. On the past few I have gotten tracking all the way there.
I wouldn't count on getting full up Tracking info unless the USPS Website specifically says so (and I don't believe it does). The only thing I am aware of that you can guaranteed track internationally is fedex or UPS. OF course that will cost even more than express mail so you need to find out how bad they really want this tracking.
