Hi, I'm using the html tag <blink> to make a words blink in my eBay auctions, but it only blinks when viewing with Netscape and not Internet Explorer. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help. Henry

Get rid of it now. Bidders will hit the back button before the second blink.

Yup! Blinking words are like music and obnoxious backgrounds - offensive to most!

As to the HTML question: No, you're not doing anything wrong. <blink> is one of those browser specific tags. MSIE stopped recognizing blink when their 4.x (or it might have been 3.x) version browser came out. Up until that point, blink simply blinked at a different rate of speed between the two browsers.

Now, that you know, you may want to consider the advice of getting rid of that particular tag. It is annoying and has been known to send people into epileptic seizures. (and no, I'm not kidding)

Good luck!

the <blink>stuff is blinking!</blink> is, I'm pretty sure, a Netscape invention and not part of proper html. This may be the reason why it doesn't display in IE.

I'm too scared to try it out. (<blink> virgin you see) So all I can say is:

Content over trickery and style over eye wounds

The only thing worse than blinking anything on an auction page is a scrolling message on the toolbar.

Thanks for all the info. And I understand the concern over the use of <blink>. However, I am just using it on ONE (1) word to attract attention to my eBay store... have to genterate sales somehow. Ebay isn't much help. Thanks again! Henry
