Does anyone know where I can puchase those stickers that say "Autographed Book" or similar. I sell books for an author in our town and she would like to put those stickers on them so potential buyers know before opening the book that it is an autographed copy. Anybody know where I can buy them?

Hi, joycel - I don't know where you can buy them already made/printed, but you can get things like that made through office supply places like Office Depot, Staples, etc.
I dislike having those on the books I buy. I made the mistake of pulling one off once and the dustjacket had faded slightly, which wasn't noticeable until I pulled the sticker off, leaving a darker area.

Agreed. Stickers can subtly deface the value of a book. Not a good idea. Recommend using a sign to note that this group has been autographed.

If it were me, I would make bookmarks. YOu can set up a table w/ about 8 columns landscaped and
type "autographed copy" in a nice font and then slice the paper into bookmarks. They would stick out from the top, and no damage is done to the books.
If you want them to appear on the right side, type the text "right justified" in portrait mode and slice.

A nice tent card printed to stick inside the book with the flap hanging over the front cover would be nice as well. Very easy to create. I, as well, hate stickers and have gone to great lengths in getting them and their residue removed from books.

An autographed bookmark would be a very nice idea, and a wonderful way to be different from the stickers at the big box stores.
Your friend could put some interesting biographical information on it, or something else that would help the buyer/reader.
Could even get it printed with her photo, nothing wrong at all in bookselling land with some self-promotion.
