How much does a buyer pay for an auction? Well, I just came to the realization that buyers in order to buy what I have to sell have a lot of costs other that the selling price. Well not a lot but today I went to the bank to get a $9.50 money order. $2.00 Yks I feel that is expensive. Also postage that is getting out of line when you come down to it sometimes the buyer pays more for the incidentials that for a widget. I would like to make it easier on my buyers and accept mostly Personal Checks. I list that first in my auction and also say I do not hold checks. Would you put that in your EOA notice or just forget about it. I want to make it easy for my buyers maybe then they will bid higher on my widget. Well I can dream can't I. I forgot to mention, as a seller I can charge the hidden costs but the buyer can't.

Around here - Denver - most grocery stores have money orders for 50 cents. Some places as low as 35 cent. BANKS are always outragous!
Auctions are all about 2 people wanting 1 item. The trick is having it listed when the 2 bidders are looking.

I know what you mean Libra. I buy mainly small $$$ stuff, and more than once I've ended up paying three times the final bid price after adding up shipping/insurance/money order fee, stamp, etc.
As far as accepting personal checks, I state that I accept them, but it may delay shipping depending on the buyer's feedback. I always ship right away, but this way I have the option of holding it if I get the heebee-jeebies about a buyer.
You might also double check with your bank. Some give out free cashier's checks or money orders depending on what type of account you have with them.
