Can anyone else use the Search system? I have been getting "can't find server" errors for the past several hours. Category listings and individual item listings work OK for me, but I can't perform any searches. Nothing shows up about it on the eBay status page or announcement page.

Apparently someone at eBay did some code tweaking.... I'm able to do single searches but if I include an asterick as a wild card, the search just hangs... And it sometimes hangs when I search on more than one word. So naturally, none of my saved search strings work....

Search has been erratic since around 15:00 PST yesterday. They are undoubtedly doing some "major" behind-the-scenes work (adding ability to see store items in the "main" search??)

Of course, all lights are "green" on the status board. I'm so glad they added that feature. It's so helpful.

Hey guys,

Search isn't working for us either, and hasn't since yesterday. Nothing on the AB and I'm surprised it's not getting much attention here either. It's probably one of the more important tools on ebay.

I have several items I want to list that USED to have a catagory. I've been trying to see where others are now listing such items, but I can't find them. Likewise I assume that lots of folks trying to find items that I already have listed are having no success either.

It wouldn't bother me so much if they would just acknowledge it and let us know they're on top of it.

sigh

You're right, simple searches *do* work, sheesh. I guess someone went and got a big enough hammer -- none of my boolean queries work. BTW, it seemed to me that wildcards have been randomly flakey as of late. I found myself muttering unrepeatables under my breath as I changed fubar* to (fubar, fubars), and (foo*,bar*) to (foo, foobar, foobars, bar, barfoo, barfoos)

Someone needs to buy a book on "how to code a simple parser", argh!

They are talking about the problem on the "Search" chat board on eBay but so far no one from eBay has commented on the problem. There's about ten different topics going that pertain to the problem.

No wonder bids are low - no one can find our stuff!

...what's really scary is that search is crippled but no one seems to notice, or care....

posted on the eBay search board at 2:20 eBay time

"We are working on the search difficulties and should have the search engines working normally before too much longer."

Glad to see that they are on top of this.

...that's because SEARCH is 'available', it just isn't working...
