I saw many auctions lately with the text:
I'll be out of town
And I'll be back 2 days after the auction closes..
Or very similar to this.
I myself never had an auction end when I wasnt there, now I'm leaving for a 3 week
Trip and I'll wont have my laptop so
I'll have minimum access to email.
But I have some many auctions that I have to post ( I think I bought to much
Have any of you tried this ?
Is it O.K.
To have auctions up while on the road?
How do you deal with questions and with
EOA (WBN) ?
( I do describe in great detail - or I try..
And usualy I manage to send the WBN
Right after the auction ends)
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you

My end of auction notices are sent out automatically at the end of my auctions. My auctions can be scheduled to start days or weeks in advance. When I got back from my vacation a few weeks ago I had many checks, and online payments waiting for me. I spent a whole day just packing up packages. Not a problem.

Since you are planning on being gone 3 weeks, I personally wouldn't put any auctions up that will end while your gone!

You could have questions asked. If you can't answer those questions you probably won't get bids and it could hurt you XTRA in the long run. These potential buyers may decide not to give you another chance.

If you say in your auction that you are going to be gone 3 weeks, you probably won't get bids either.

I can sometimes be an impatient buyer and I don't think I am alone in this. I like to use PP or BP and pay within hours of auction end so I can have my new treasure on the way to me at warp speed. My "best" transactions are usually concluded and FB left by all in under 10 days! I have had some terrific ones that were done in less than a week! I reaaallllly love those. I make sure the WHOLE world (or at least anyone checking FB) knows what a fantastic seller I had!!!!!

Despite whatever you decide to do...I hope you have a great trip! Enjoy....

Hi sulyn1950,
That's what I've done till now,
I like the 5 day process,
(I love the 2 days with BidPay even more )
I wont be us lucky as the other sellers
I'll be on a work trip,
On and off 5 days on the road 1 day at home,
And then 8 days on the road 8!! hours home
And so on,
I just wanted to find out how other deal with it, but I know I get lots of questions,
(I ask a lot too, since you cannt try it on or anything : )
So I guess my auctions will have to wait till
I get back
Oy, now that I have cool stuff it's so
Hard not to post it

I think 3 weeks is problmatic, particularly since 50%-plus of bidders won't read the part that says you're on vacation, and you'll have negs waiting for you when you return.

For shorter trips, where you can start the auctions as you leave and have them end the day before you return, the only problem is answering qustions. If you have a web-based e-mail address (or a regular addy which you can check from the web), you can get web access at most public libraries and (for a fee) all Kinko's & Mailboxes Etc. Of course, you probably won't have the items with you, so some questions you won't be able to answer even then.

Booksbooksbooks:
That's what I did with my last 9
I had 10 days auctions and I got back the last day
So I could do EOAS and payments,
And I had people email at my web based lycos
That wasnt a problem,
I only sell high end clothes or shoes,
So I dont get too many ???.
Now that I think about it is a silly idea
How can ship when I'm away (almost the whole 3 weeks)?
I should have thought about the shipping part, not the emails &payment...!
Anyway, so that solved this one
I think eBay like all
Business should shut down for august
(like businees in europe )
(no just kidding, but it would work for me this month)
thanks!

I just took a mini vacation and had some auctions start 2 days before I returned. I usually receive questions the last day, so I don't end auctions while I am away.

While on my vacation, I met a family from another state who told me that school starts on August 15 for them.

I have discovered that many states start school in mid August, so of course I have some auctions scheduled.

In California, school used to start around September 12, but I notice that school has been starting the day after Labor Day the past few years.

I look forward to sales picking up in September.

On a three week vacation, I'd have no auctions ending the week before leaving, no auction during the first two weeks of the vacation, then eight or nine days before returning I'd start listing auctions again (I almost always use seven day auctions). If I have an auction ending two days before returning (I almost always have them end in the evening), I can still be within the terms I promise if the bidder pays immediately. I promise to ship the next business day after payment received. Thus, an auction ending Friday, they pay Friday, I return home Sunday, pack up the item and ship Monday. Can't see anyone complaining about that.

Hi peterdavis,
Well, the good news is I dont have to go to
Oregon, just CA so it will be just 10
Day trip, so next Thursday I can start
Posting and be back the morning of closing time
(I too end them at 9- 10 in the evening, with 10 day auctiuons)
So I'll be O.K. I
And I can keep on selling
And ship on time,
And with the answers,
From 4 ??? asked last time,
3 came to my web email,
Only one person sent it to my home
Email
(if I wouldnt get netfolders I could check
The mail through Lycos, but that would ruin
The outlook, oy, you gotta love microsoft!
Thank you guys, have a great day!
