Good morning all,
Ok, we've had the discussions here about whether or not to take cc's ad nauseum, so that's not what this is about.
I'm thinking about only taking c2it for items I expect will sell under $20. I would still take PayPal for my higher-end items.
Sellers, how are your customers responding to c2it? Is it easy for them to use? Are any of them using it? Any advice in general about them as a company?
Buyers: What is your impression of c2it? On an item of $20 or less, would you resent the 20 cent or less charge?
What I'm thinking is that:
In the last month, I've had about one sale in five go over $100. Every single one of them paid by check.
A perusal of my PayPal account shows that this behavior carries throughout my sales - i.e., most of my PayPal transactions are lower than $30, while most of my sales over $50 are either paid with a check or MO.
My PayPal fees for small items are:
On $10.... 59c
On $15.... 74c
On $20.... 88c
Buyer fees with c2it on those same amounts would be 10c, 15c, and 20c respectively - all less than a postage stamp.
So, what do you think? This obviously makes sense on an item by item basis, but does it make sense overall, i.e., will buyers pass because they are already signed up with PayPal, and don't like anything new? Will they resent paying the fee? Or any other input.
I have had nothing but good feedback from my buyers, NONE of them have complained about the fee.
I have had a couple complain that they had a hard time signing up, and I have had a few nearly beg me to take Paypal ( one even said if I would not take Paypal then he would not pay for the auction ) But he ended up by sending a money Order
anyway MOST of my auctions are under 10 bucks of course I have a lot of buyers with multi-purchases.
all in all C2it has been a great help to me and now have had well over 125 transactions with them as a seller, and I was able to get another SELLER to sign up with c2it so I could pay for some items I purchased.
The ten Bucks that c2it is still giving to new users seems to help, if I did have a complaint about the tiny fee c2it charges, then I would simply point out that the 10 bucks will pay the fee on $1,000.00 worth of auctions....

Just to clarify, C2it's fee is a minimum of 50 cents. Right now most of my buyers have not yet signed up, so getting $10 back is a great deal to them. When a month passes and they have to start paying 50 cents, I can remind them that:
1) the $10 is paying for their first 20 payments or first $1000 of charges
2) 50 cents is still cheaper than mailing out a money order and using a credit card is safer
I have had some buyers insist on paying with a credit card directly. They tell me that they don't want to put their info on some web site. So I tell them, "Fine, give me your info and I will enter it into my PC and then I will transmit it to some web site for processing and they will transmit it to their processor so your info will now reside in at least three places. But if you think this is safer than giving it directly to Citibank, go right ahead." So far, I have not processed a direct CC payment in months. I get 80% C2it, 10% checks and money orders and 10% achex or paypal non credit card payments.
