I am trying to relist a few auctions that I have listed time and again on eBay with no trouble. But this time I get the following message from eBay:
"Disallowed Javascript/HTML Syntax
Sorry, our JavaScript-checking program has determined that your Description may contain the JavaScript/HTML syntax ".cookie", "cookie(", "replace(", IFRAME, or includes, which are not allowed in your Description per eBay Policy.
Please click the back button to remove the JavaScript syntax in your Description. If you don't have JavaScript in your Description, you may want to add a space between the punctuation and the word.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but we strive to ensure a pleasant experience for all of those in the eBay community, and in some cases, we may be overly protective just to be safe."
What in the heck is THIS all about? I went through the description and could not find the word 'cookie' anywhere. eBay refuses to let me re-list my items.
Does it never end? Anyone out there run into this before and have a helpful hint? I use AW for my image hosting and I use a simple template. I am baffled.
Thanks

Many people have run into this before and you have received more than one notification from ebay that Java/Javascript cookies and includes are now forbidden.
You have some form of Java in your auction text which is probably placing a browser cookie. If you are using HumanClick or similar services, you will not be able to insert their information.
Just do a search in your posting information for Java and you will find the problem. Then remove it.

I may have received notices from eBay, but don't recall seeing them and wouldn't have known what they were jabbering about if I had. I am simply trying to re-list auctions identical to those I have run dozens of times in the past, hence my confusion.
How do I search my description for JAVA? I have gone through all the jibberish manually to no avail. Your help is much appreciated. I am not trying to get funny with eBay. I use no service n listing auction except what I pay AW for. This is a new problem for me.
Thanks.

I had the same message and it made me nuts because I went through the jibberish and none of it made sense. Finally, I took a wild guess and toward the bottom of my description as I scrolled down there was a line that started something like:
<hr> on (date) the seller added the following information...."
I highlighted from that point on down to the end, deleted it and the relist went through no problem. In my case I think it was automatically inserted PayPal logos, but I guess it could be anything. For some reason eBay doesn't like that stuff anymore.
Hope this is helpful.

Do you use the smart logos that change after the auction closes? Its possible the new logo has java script that ruins the relisting...
Doing exactly what you did should fix that problem. Delete the logo - relist, and insert a new logo.

This is the header for Java. You have to look at the HTML on the page to find it. Or it could execute from any link you may have to a logo or another site. It could even be in a counter.
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
From the message from eBay it looks as if someone is trying to set a cookie from a link you may have on your auction page.

Most text editors or word processors will let you do a search or find.
This sort of problem is why I never liked programs that inserted something in my descriptions. No logos or counters are really necessary.

Check for any logos you let PayPal add to your auction. I was getting these messages too -- and it was due to the PayPal "Smart Logos."
I had to manually remove the html/javascript for the logos from each auction I wanted to relist --- then I headed to PayPal and stopped the auto logo feature.
I haven't had any problems since I dumped the PayPal logos.

Just to clarify a little. there is Java and there is JavaScript.
There is a big difference.
