So how can I use this to my advantage? It says items must be listed in Canadian dollars.

Now why do they do this 2 months AFTER my sister moved to Pittsburgh from the NIAGARA FALLS area?

Hi Becky,

I believe that you can still list on ebay.ca even if you reside in the US.

Just keep in mind that if you were to sell something for $10.00 on the regular ebay site, you would need to open the auction approximately (I haven't checked the exchange rate lately, so this is an estimate) at x 1.5 that price i.e. $15.00Cdn.

If you do decide to give it a whirl, watch the default ship-to on the ebay.ca site...I think selecting shipping to "home" country only would default to shipping to Canada only

Many thanks for the information. I must confess that when I first started trading I thought .CA was California!

You can change the setting to "sell in US$".
But hoe do you word it, so the buyer knows that the seller is in the US and will have to pay the appropriate SH charge to Canada?

heike55,

I believe if you read the info, that only Cdn $ auctions will be free. On a regular basis, you could list in US dollars, but the free listing day is for CAD amounts only, for whatever ebay's reasoning.

In the past, when I listed an auction on the Canadian site, I listed it in Cdn funds, but included in my shipping info the cost to ship to a US destination in US funds.

I admit, it does get a bit clumbsy, but what do you have to lose? It just takes a little more maintenance for the FLD listings, and you could save substantially.

Last time I listed on ebay.ca FLD, I uploaded 45 books...almost all sold, and 90% went to a US destination. It gets included in the regular ebay search function, and most of my customers found it simple. I used the Final value as determined by ebay's exchange to be acceptable as the final bid price. (You will see in red print beside the Cdn dollar amount the price in US dollars...I used this as the ending value, and added on my already stated US shipping cost...payments were made on all but 2 auctions in US dollars.)

Hope that helps, in the end, it is a chance to list for free...you have nothing to lose, and I doubt it will be as busy as FLD on the regular site, so the impact of tons of other sellers listing at the same time is not as great.

Not trying to promote this, just wanted to pass on the info.

Myself, I haven't got a thing ready to go, and doubt I'll even be on the computer tomorrow

Can you use Mr. Lister for free Canada listing day?

ROY222,

Hi,

last time I posted to the Canadian site I did use Misterlister, but I can't quite remember how I facilitated it. it was back in the Spring sometime. I believe I had to go and download ML from the Canadian site, but this did overwrite my regular version of ML, which I had to go and then download from the US site to go back to regular use.

It was a pain, but did make a one day work-a-thon a bit easier for the day.
If you already have files stored in ML, I don't know if they can be transferred over or not.

You might find info on ebay.ca on their Misterlister link...which I don't have at my fingertips.

If I were to list tomorrow, I would likely just create files on Notepad or another word processor, and copy and paste one at a time, as opposed to trying to tweek ML for the one day.

I've already sold 8 items (with the "Buy It Now" feature) that I listed earlier today.
