I was reading the "superseller newsletter"
http://superseller.krause.com/issues/newsletter.asp?IssueID=95#1
and noticed an interesting article on the new eBay stores. The article mentioned that over 18,000 have been built since their introduction. There were quite a few negative comments quoted from current users. Has anyone had any good experiences with the service? What have your experiences been in this first month? What is the one thing that you think that eBay could do to improve sales at eBay stores?

I was one of those that opened a store. I've sold about 3 items on the store. They only got about 10-20 hits in 30 days... Pathetic, ironic... Ebay doesn't want us to link our ebay ads to our websites but they want us to link our websites to ebay... very unfair!
The stores only get traffic generated by your bidders checking out your other items and if you link your store from your website...
GRRRRRR...
Even though the store and listings are free, I've decided it's not worth the time to list items on it so when they expire, I will let the store die...

I've sold a couple of inexpensive items, and most of my items have less than 10 hits.
I might keep the store if they didn't start charging next month, but no way can I afford to keep it with the results I've had so far.

Unless ebay incoporates the normal ebay search into the stores, and allows gallery pics, its a no win deal for the sellers. Ed

I am very disappointed in the design of the Ebay store and it is hard to track your actions and store items because they are listed together on the "My Ebay" page or on the seller search. However, I have sold quite a few things from my store--all to people who were also buying from my auctions. I am will keep mine open at least for a few months and see if the traffic keeps up.

ebay store is a joke,so is amzn zshop, just a listing of items.
neither gets any traffic .
ebay is not invincible,it makes one lousy mistake with butterfield and butterfield and the great collections, now its store is a joke.
some sellers claim it gets in the way of selling in auction and delete the stores.

I think the next article in supersellers might be 18,000 ebay stores closed...
It's been quite pathetic. I'm hoping things do turn around and we have a fantatic fall winter season.

Ebay needs Universal Search, similar to the
way Auctionwatch does it. It is well
organized and was wonderful until ebay became
unavailable. I hope we will be seeing
something similar in the Fall from ebay.
Otherwise, the store concept is a loser
that doesn't benefit sellers and confuses
buyers.

I have an ebay store front Item's got a few views no bids.
Everyone keeps saying ebay need to add the store to the search, but after reading through ebay a bit more on the issue I found that if you pay for any ebay feature for a store listing your store item will show up in search with the other items on ebay.
Right now Stores are still in beta testing but I think at a flat rate of $10 a month and .05 cent per listing even if you have to pay for a feature or two to get in the seach with auctions the store fronts will be more cost effective.
YOu pay $10 a month 5 cents to list you do still pay FVF no waiting for an auction to end many buyer like this, also the fixed sale makes it posable for a seller to sell three to five times more ITems.
Yes most stores are slow right now but if you just pay for one of ebay auction lower cost features and get one of you item in the search advertise you store url heavily interest will pickup.
On top of that this is where the big boys will be haveing many of there item and they will be helping buy advertiseing the stores as well.

eBay announced that they have extended the free period for the eBay stores for another month. Why? Any theories?

Yes. Seeing as how the whole eBay store concept is basically a complete flop - eBay is desperately trying to get some more sellers on line and keep the ones they have, with hopes of keeping them online through Christmas or so. Then after Christmas I look for the stores to completely vanish!

Well, after a month of virtually minimal traffic, I finally jumpstarted my store sales.
I checked w/SafeHarbor and they blessed my putting a clickable link in my item description to my storefront.
I did it w/the latest round of auctions and the traffic has really taken off and sales have picked up nicely.
