Well, it finally happened.
I recently had a sports-related item, a nice piece that I had figured would sell for about $300 (bought for $50).
Turned out it was MUCH rarer than I had been able to research, and sold for just over $2,000. Very exciting!
Since I'm in Canada, that's over 3 grand of our money, and I'm treating it as an "extra" sale, not part of my regular monthly eBay sales -- and taking a long-delayed vacation in mid to late September.
The proceeds from the sale will pay for all my travel expenses, gas, food, camping, plus I'm sure ample left over to hit all those little off-road antique stores, book stores, thrift shops, and yard sales along the way.

Congratulations, upriver! Enjoy your vacation.
I like to hear stories like yours and it proves that ebay isn't all doom and gloom like some people seem to think.
Two years ago I purchased some items on ebay that no one else seemed interested in. My cost was $350 plus about $50 shipping.
At the time these were for my own collection but recently I decided I no longer wanted them and took them to our shop to sell. I priced them according to some similar ones I had sold before and also after some research on the net.
Yesterday someone walked in and paid us $2150 for them. It was exactly what they were looking for. ebay is still fun.
