I used to sell on eBay and was considering selling a few more things to reduce clutter and retrieve some money from what turned out to be unwise purchases (items I never ended up using).

I've been lurking here on Auction Watch's eBay board and it seems to me that the only people selling on eBay now are people in business.

Is it still possible to just run a simple auction for a week with 2 pictures, accept only checks and m.o.s and compete with all of the pros?

I'm also wondering if there are any nice bidders left out there. So many people here complain about deadbeats, and rude and unreasonable buyers.

Thanks for any input you are willing to share.

Where have you been cybercat?

Sure, you can sell just a few items. Lots of people run only a few auctions from time to time. You aren't too likely to get deadbeats. Someone who runs a lot of auctions is bound to get a few, but the percentages would be in your favor not to get any.

Good luck!

Yes, eBay is still for you.

Auction Watch is the place for us sellers to vent our frustration without getting in trouble. Group therapy, if you will. As such, you commonly see all of the ugly aspects of selling online in our griping messages.

Products are still easily sold on eBay and there are plenty of great buyers.

Best of luck on your listings.

eBay is still for everyone--it just may not be the place for everything at all times.

95% of the eBay buyers I've dealt with have been great! Real nice folks to deal with. Quick pay, and no problems. There's a high likelihood you'll run into great buyers.

The problem right now is buyers have left auction sites for whatever reason. Bids are slow coming. Might want to wait for the Christmas rush to take advantage of a new influx of buyers.

Everyone still sells and buys on ebay !!!!

It cost a bit more and people watching cost more like a business would then in the past but still for all...

Our fussing and complaining about customers are just because AuctionWatch is cheaper than a therapist.

Actually most of us LOVE our customers and there are some GREAT ones out there.

There are still tons of non-business people on ebay. You'll do great..go for it.

I am not in business and only list about one or two auctions a week and sometimes they are relists which bring more than the starting price with no bids the previous week and I never have more than two photos. I have reduced clutter tremendously and have rid myself of stuff I had packed away and forgotten about until I got the box out and opened it. I am having a great time doing it and it beats other amusements which cost money. I say "Go to it" If you have no use for something anymore or room for it, its a great way of disposing of it. Besides as they say, " One man's junk is another's treasure"
