says they never got it. Howdy everyone! I sent an item on 7-16-01 with Delivery Confirmation. Buyer informs me 2 weeks later he never got the item. I checked the DC number with USPS and it shows the item was delivered to his post office on 7-18-01, so I wrote to him with a copy and pasted proof of what USPS showed. I suggested he print that out, and check with his local Post Office. Today I get another email, 8-16-01, and he says...."Have you found out anything yet?" He claims he still has not gotten the package. Did he really not get it although it shows having gone through his post office scan? Does he not like it, and want a full refund? Does he want another one at no charge? I don't know what to do here. It does show delivered to his post office. (Just a note....it is to a private home not an apartment building, so chances of theft are somewhat reduced if it was just left) How to proceed. TIA

Hi furki! Been missing ya! Anyway, I see that more often than I'd like where a DC is scanned in at the addressee's post office but they didn't get it. At the shop where I work part time (it's a mail type place), we are working on one in fact and I know she didn't get it because it is my co-worker and I happen to be the person who picks up the mail 6 days a week for the shop & the boxholders. My boss also had one that showed scanned in at our post ofc but he never got it (that one was last yr)..

Anyway, not that I'm any help as pertains to YOUR buyer, but it does actually happen. Sometimes they never do show up. Also, one thing that might verify it to some degree is to look at the time of day it was scanned in. If it was scanned at like 6 or 7am it is obvious that it wasn't scanned upon it's actual delivery to the addressee but upon arriving at the post office..

Good luck with him!

I mailed a package to my mom (across country) 2 Christmases ago. It showed that it had been delivered, but it hasn't shown up to this day. I called the post office and they gave more information, that it was being returned to me, but it didn't say that on the website.

I would call the post office.

Did he actually go to the post office to check?

I had one of these cases last week. Told buyer to go to PO to see if package was sitting on a shelf in the back.

It was. Buyer retrieved package and all is well.

Ditto the others. Have your buyer call his post office and see if it's there. Several times I have had that happen.

If your buyer continues to insist it's lost, have them fill out the USPS loss form which has all that language about penalty of perjury. Almost all folks who I have asked to do this have either mysteriously found their package or never heard from them again.

I bought A Large Lot of Nylon webbing 38 pounds packed in 2 boxes - Everything arrived fine - day after receiving the package Seller emailed me asking why I had refused shipment - cause thats what DC status had listed when she checked it - I even checked myself - Told her all is well. I think the Dc slips are not always accurate.
Good Luck

I have said since the begining of Delivery Confirmation "It is Worthless". Spend the extra and get insurance or get nothing at all.

You can begin the lost mail process from your end. At the post office fill out the Lost Mail/ Rifling Report (1/2 page and it's not complicated) -- you'll need the address shipped to, date of mailing, and value. The two times (or maybe three) that I have filled out the form, within one week the item has appeared at the bidders doorstep. Just because DC says it's there is not a reason for you to complacently accept that. File the paperwork, and inform your winner. Good communication will alleviate stress.

My fellow -- the last one in particular -- was adamant that his item had been stolen. He was positive that it would never turn up and a might cranky too. New bidder -- less than 20 feedbacks, and I think a bit afraid of the whole process. Anyway, I killed him with kindness, contact, and he did get his win. The positive he left was *glowing* too... and it could have turned out nasty.

One thing to my advantage is that my post office gives great receipts -- showing both the zip code and town mailed too, along with the amount of postage paid. That has saved my cookies on more than one occasion, in that I have proof of mailing. Folks tend to believe the receipt far more than DC... strange isn't it?

Anyway, I wish you good fortune, but definitely, start the process to locate the missing mail from your end, and keep your bidder appraised of the results.

The parcel I mentioned earlier was scanned in as received on 8/13 and we actually received it on 8/16. Where had it been for 3 days? Well, obviously, somewhere in the post office but who knows why it was not actually delivered to me til the 16th! And I actually pick up the mail at that very post office every day, 6 days a wk, for the entire mail box place...so it doesn't even have to get routed out to a carrier, etc...
