If the buyer asks a question that is already answered in the description? He asked me if I accept Paypal? I clearly state I do in the description. Should I just erase these questions next time?

haha doesn't stuff like that make your eye twitch?

I would just state "Yes, as per item description, I will accept your paypal payment. Thanks for looking!"

Yes it is OK to be bothered but not to say anything. Welcome to business where no matter how big a twit the customer is you smile and take his money.

Hi
Answer your bidder politely and thank them for asking questions.
It maybe a test to see how you respond and work with your bidders. I do it to people myself to see how quick they get back to me before I will bid on a auction of theirs. I want to know how they treat their customers. You may be gaining a great future bidder

IF I wanted to "test" a seller this way, I could think of something to ask besides something that was spelled out plainly in the auction.

Of course, I want the people I deal with to think I'm smart enough to understand what I read.

Hi
sorry I don't ask them what is spelled out already in their auction descriptions....
I ask them for more information as I really need it if I am going to bid.
Sorry if you misunderstood me. Guess I need to post here more often.

I answer all questions and never mention that the answer was right there in front of their face when they were looking at the listing. Serious browsers don't always take the time to read every word and, like I do, feel that once you've read one TOS you've read them all. I broke my TOS out into several concise "sections" but it has not stopped the questions. I want a friendly reputation.

I'll politely answer questions like this, but when I get three of them in a row, I have to wonder....

I have had no buyer ask me that question. In fact I usually have my paypal payment before I know I have sold my item. I use the BIN and if I don't go in and look I never know for quite some time because ebay is slow with their EOA's. Sometimes over a day late.

hi again
This year I have bought 2 items online, so I had to ask 1 seller a question. I am a seller and have gotten many a question in email myself.
Must be the word *test* was not a good choice of words here....

Toyhunter - I see nothing at all disturbing or wrong about your "test"! I think we ALL do this automatically when we are shopping OFF-LINE. Speaking for myself, when I encounter friendly & helpful sales staff I am much more likely to buy from them. On the other hand, when I encounter indifference or annoyance (even over a "dumb" question) I definitely will take my money elsewhere. I have spent most of my life in customer service of some sort, and I have no doubt my own business will continue to grow based on my standards, as opposed to the opinions expressed in another thread that "This is business - no time for customer service!" In fact, about 1/2 the sellers I have encountered on ebay will never get a bid from me again based on their total lack of customer service standards. Anyway, just wanted to let you know at least one person thought yours to be a smart and practical idea!
