I usually sell books, but recently came across a lovely coral & floral gold filigree bracelet when I was shopping for books at a thrift store. Unfortunately, it's made for someone with a smaller wrist then I have - I would need about one extra link.
I'd like to auction it, but since this is so far out of my area of expertise, I'm hoping someone could identify it for me so I know how to describe it in the auction listing.
It looks old.
I'm not sure how to make a clickable link in a post, but these are the scans.

The scans are actual size. They are just a little dark. I don't see any markings on the bracelet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Best,
Denise

I am not sure of the name, but I have seen a few peices constructed like this, but they were all made of silver - could it be tarnished silver?

It is definitely not tarnished silver, but it could be gold-plated silver. I just looked closely, and there is a bit of wear on the clasp - there appears to be silver underneath the gold.

Maybe copper or brass - popular during 30's-50's, usually unmarked. It's kind of hard to tell from your pic. It does look like tarnished silver though - maybe an import piece?

To make the link clickable: (remove $'s)
[$URL]http://www.emptymirrorbooks.com/auction/coralbr1.JPG[/URL]
To see the image on this page:

Thanks for your thoughts, AuctionPulse. It is definitely not tarnished silver or copper. I don't know much about jewelry but I do know how to identify those metals. I don't believe it's brass - the detail is incredibly fine. It also has a soft gold color to it, unlike brass, but exactly like gold.
The color in the first two pics is truest, they are just a little fuzzy though.
The second two pictures are darker, but sharper.

They are probably Chinese and either silver with a gold wash or brass. I would guess silver and prior to 1930.

No markings, huh? It sure looks like Mexican sterling to me, but most of that is marked, I think.
Bumping up because I'm curious now...

I just double-checked, and there are indeed no markings anywhere on the bracelet.
Wish I could give you all more to go on~

Is there any way you can show us a close up detail pic?

I would not rule out brass so quickly. Brass does age to a nice warm patina like that with enough time. And you can get really fine detail with brass; I have lots of brass filigree pieces that are very finely detailed.
One question though: is it only the clasp that shows silver on the back? It could be that the clasp is made of a different metal.

Here is a 200% scan of the bracelet. The color is as true as I could make it.

I have been in and out of the middle range jewelry business for almost all of my life.
If the braclet is yellow as in the above jpgs, I would bet on brass. It looks an awful lot like current jewelry produced in India, much of which has removeable stickers.
The clasp is a simple folded over piece of metal that slides into the opposite square?
That said, it looks to be quite possibly older than the current mass produced pieces.

I think I would vote with the last fellow who said India. If it were pre 30s from China it would be marked. It is similar to some of the pieces I had from a collection but every piece was marked and was made for export around the turn of the century. If it IS from China, it would likely be goldwash over silver, but then again, it really would have a silver stamp on it somewhere. I would expect to sell it from anywhere between $12 to $35 depending on how many people see it and like it!
