Thankfully folks like this on eBay are the vast minority, but I'll tell ya, they do wear thin pretty quick. Just this week:

1. LOCAL buyer wanted to pick up item from well over 1 month ago, has now not come TWICE when said he would, now seems to be ignoring e-mail until he gets around to it.

2. Bidder from 5 weeks back with 28 positives when he bought item, now with 50 positives -- wouldn't send payment for my item, wouldn't answer my e-mails, wouldn't ackowledge the non-payment reminder -- how did I get so lucky (irony!) -- well he got his 1st neg!

3. Newbie bidder with 0 feedback, gets a book for $3.99 opening bid (lists on ABE in 15-25 range), then berates me with "I want to use Paypal, what's wrong with you" when my auctions all state real clearly I don't accept Paypal for payment, then also berates me with "Why so high in postage", as I am charging $4.50 which is the precise actual postage cost from Canada to U.S., not 1 cent extra charges. Guy gets a bargoon & then balks at coughing up $8.49, isn't life too short to even have to answer the e-mails on a transaction this small!!

4. Another bidder who had 50 positives on an item he won on July 11th, pays other people, never has sent my payment, in spite of 4 e-mails unanswered now, NPBA sent 8-7, final e-mail sent 8-19 -- I just don't get it, why do apparently good bidders all of a sudden spontaneously decide to jerk someone around -- if the person would just say, "Look, I decided I don't want it" or something -- ANYTHING -- I'd likely just give them a neutral & move on -- now it has to be their 1st neg.

Well, folks, thanks for reading my rant, I'm going to take a nap & hope things are better in 2 hours...

hi jeanyu,

I'm no newbie, been selling full-time 3 1/2 years, and I'm very used to the average 3% deadbeats I get every month, that merit no comment whatsoever.

The rather trifling point of the post though was that I just don't get it when supposedly trustworthy bidders still screw around with you, it baffles me.

Or of course as Gilda Radner said, never mind.

upriver,

I know...what is it with these bidders that have good feedback, and decide that they don't want to send money?

I had one about a year ago, he had over 500 positives, and kept telling me how his son was so sick..he couldn't send payment right away. I looked at his auctions running, he was a seller also, he had been selling, and bidding on other auctions, and feedback had been left for him on auctions that he won and paid for after he bid and won mine. But his son was to sick to send me any money.

I am now dealing with someone with almost 200 positives, giving excuses or taking his time answering emails. Been almost a month for this one.
