What would everyone think if eBay went to a silent bidding format?

I.E. you place your max bid, and anyone else can bid whatever they want...In the end, the highest bidder gets the item for $.01 more than the second place bidder.

Would that be a good thing or a bad thing?

Just curious

Ugh! Is that how silent auctions work?

I liked the idea until I saw that the person gets it for slightly higher than the second place bidder. Seems the high bidder should get it, period. IMO.

But otherwise, I love it!

Uh, to my knowledge, I've never seen a silent auction run that way.
