I hope this qualifies for this board since half.com is owned by ebay. I have been listing books on half.com for a good while and don't seem to be selling anything. Was thinking about selling some books on amazon. Can anyone tell me if they do any better on amazon? Thanks!!

It takes awhile to start getting many orders on half and you need enough books. Once you start getting some feedback, the orders will follow. I wouldn't order from anyone who didn't have a rating. Would you?

Maybe I didn't phrase the original quite right. I have right much feedback on half.com because I was selling right many books but lately it seems to be dead and I have (what I thought) some pretty good books on. I was wondering if anyone was selling much on half.com or if amazon is doing better or if the summer slump has them also. Thanks again!!

My sales are steadily climbing, so I see nothing at all wrong with half.

Parkman: I used to sell a lot on half.com but it's dead for me now. Meanwhile, my books are "flying off the shelves" at Amazon. One thing you could do is give it a fair try for a few weeks, then pay for a Pro Merchant account if you feel you will sell at least 40 books a month. At that point it's the same as half.com in that listings are permanent and the commission is 15%...only difference being books actually sell, and I don't mean for 75 cents.

Hi ya Keziak! Lurking around ever since I had to turn into a chamelion around here...
You've finially convinced me to give Amazon a shot. Things are pretty dead at both Ebay and Half right now, for me.
Glad to hear you're doing well!

Like Keziak (actually my realtime friend as well!) I have pretty much given up on Half.com and am doing great on Amazon. I don't even list that much and still get regular sales. I really only list stuff that is fairly scarce, though; for instance I sold something for $45.00 yesterday. I just don't think it's worth listing something on which I can't make a decent profit - so I trade my lowball books at the used book store for better quality items.

Its pretty much slim pickins for resale at the local used book stores, here. All 3 are pretty heavy league, having run all the little shops out of biz.
But, 1 of the 3 does "toss out" books, if they aren't easy to list at half, or list for too little. They put them in a bin at the front door, free to whoever will haul them off.
I've picked up more than a few and sold them. Not for alot, but with zero investment, what the hey.

I find there's a mix involved;some go to eBay and others to half. I do have some inexpensive books on half, but I also have more expensive ones.
One of the big problems with bookselling is expecting the market to bend towards the seller. Don't hold your breath. I recently sold a book on half that retailed for $65. A bunch of sellers were asking $40 or more. I priced mine at $25.00 and it sold in just a couple of weeks. Was I too cheap. Maybe. Maybe not. The book cost me a whopping $1, so my net profit was about $18.
