Hello everyone,
I need your opinion.
I sold set of luggage for $100.00. Mailed pieces one inside the other. Apparently this caused the damage dowel (clothes bar in luggage) to break. Buyer email me and tells me she would like $15.00 for the damage and her $25.00 in postage back. I am willing to pay $15.00 for damage but don't feel I should pay her postage. Buyer states if I don't she will return the luggage for a full refund. I believe she thinks I will pay the postage back.
Please give your opinion on what would be a fair deal.

Tell her you would be happy to give her the partial refund of $15, but the post office states they got it to her, so it's a no go on the shipping. Now if she would like, she can ship it back to you, insured this time, and upon receipt you'll refund her the $100.
Other than that, there's nothing else you can do.
Do recommend to her that she insure her purchases next time. It makes it so much easier for her to collect on damages that she claims happened.

You win goofball bidder of the day!
Damage AND postage?
Not a chance.
I would gladly pay the repair amount of $15.00, maybe even $20.00, but no chance refunding the postage.
Maybe you should counter as high as $25.00 if you think that your packing is to blame.
As for returning the item for refund, that would depend on your TOS, or if you offered insurance and she declined it or not.
If it was offered and refused, make your repair offer and let it stand.
(prepare for the negative though)
Good luck on whatever you do.
