Is Red Transferware really red, or....is more of a maroon color? I am looking at a few auctions, and they all seem maroon to me.......anyone familiar with transferware?

Dave61bug~
I am not a specialist in transferware but I have noticed that there are "shades" of red. Some will even call it pink. Probably just depends on the quality of the transfer or age? But overall it probably all boils down to red. There is also the highly collectible mulberry/purple shade as well as black, green and blue. Could very well depend on the maker. Hope this helps
When you have several "red" pieces from different manufacturers you can see that the tints vary somewhat. There is red, pink, mulberry, maroon and purple (maybe other names) and I have seen them all being referred to as "red".
Depending on the lighting, quality of pictures, color tint on monitors, color description by seller, etc. this can become very confusing for anyone buying or selling "red" transferware.

Thanks for the replies! I was very confused by "red" in the description, and seeing anything from pink to maroon. Thanks for that link, I will check it out now.
