I have run across a seller who puts on a lot of furniture pieces. I have bought a few things and the transaction was fine. The only thing is that they don't put a reserve on their pieces, but if the auction doesn't end at a particular price after bids have been placed they say the item is no longer available. They just got a neutral the other day for that reason, but not negs so far.In other words if the item doesn't do well they don't sell it, they just tell the highest bidder that it is no longer available! What do you think about this?

I would wait and see if the seller relist the item any time soon. If the picture AND description are IDENTICAL, I would make the seller sell it to you for the price you won it for in the auction. Turn them into the Ebay Police.

If you won the auction fair and square and the seller does not sell it to you I would leave negative feedback and report them to ebay.

Is this the seller who says something like: 'It takes 2 bidders to make an auction, so I may not sell if there's only one bidder, because that would be the same as stealing my item'?

This person is clearly a bit of an idjit. Why not just cancel all bids and end the auction, thus avoiding Final Value Fees and the possibility of Negative/Neutral feedback? The way he's doing it is just nuts, he needs a spanking real soon.

We sell furniture too and this seller really needs to be turned into Safeharbor. They are using a defacto Reserve but are not paying the reserve charge nor the listing fee for a high reserve/starting bid.
We set our price to just barely get a tiny profit if it sells. Sometimes you get one bid, sometimes many...it IS an auction afterall.
Sellers like this give the rest of us a bad name, IMHO.

That practice is against E-Bay Rules. Hopefully E-Bay will suspend this member. We also sell furniture and use a reserve or set a minimum opening bid that we would be willing to sell the item for.

P.S.: You may not want to buy from this seller anyway. Who knows if they represented this item in an honest manner. The piece may not be structurally sound.
