Good morning, early birds!
I've never used Buy It Now but am thinking of trying it. From threads here, long ago, I was under the impression there is a fee for it but can't find that on eBay anywhere. Is it still in a "trial" period and still free??
Second question: Ebay wants me to accept credit cards for this. Urges me, in fact. Is this absolutely necessary? I'm not at the point yet where I take credit cards. Have you found buyers willing to send checks or money orders when they have used your BIN option?

I think BIN is great...and so far it is still free with no charge from eBay. I've had no problems having buyers who use it pay me by m.o. or check ~ If a credit card purchase is requested (specially if it is an expensive item and they need to use one), I have requested them to use BidPay or PayPal as a last resort. Good luck! BTW, I'm a night owl, not an early bird. (West Coast) Cheers, Mallary

I use BIN on items that I want to stand out. Cheaper than all the little gift icons that eBay will sell you, and it offers an incentive to click on your auction. I only use it on items that I know exactly how much they are worth.
I don't accept credit cards, (including online payments), so even if eBay BEGGED me on hands and knees to do it, I wouldn't.

I used BIN once when my dog chewed up my cell phone & I need another right away. I used BIN, and because the shipping price was stated in the auction, I went directly to paypal, made the payment and got the phone right away.
For me it was convenience. I couldn't wait a day or two for an auction to end.

Buy It Now(BIN)can be wonderful! Before the eBay stores were introduced, I used BIN to clear out inventory in a hurry. I made the BIN price and opening bid the same and everything went within two days. That's the only way I would use BIN now in an auction.
Although traffic is slow in my eBay store, where everything is fixed price and available for immediate purchase, I'm having success with items that are related to or similar to my auction items.
Incidentally, it is only in the stores that eBay requires you to give customers the option of paying by credit card.

Thanks, everybody.
I did wonder if ebay wasn't just trying to sell their credit card system and getting a bit aggressive with me.
I'm going to hold my nose and dive in on this BIN stuff and see if I like it. I have several old big books about older movie stars and all of their movies. I thought I'd do a low BIN and get them off my counter!!

As long as BIN is free, I'll continue to use it. I listed 14 auctions this weekend, four have already ended with BIN!!!
I also accept most of the electronic pay options, Billpoint, PayPal, etc....
3 out of 4 already payed with either BP or PP, 2 of those even befroe I could send out an EOA! I state all my shipping and other terms out well in my auctions, so they calculated and payed...........
