I am wonder how to tell if a book is a first edition?

Today my daughter purchased a book at a thrift store for 25 cents. "Let's All Shut Up And Make Money" by Larry Feign. While we were checking out we noticed that the book had a $79.00 retail price tag attached [my first thought was it had to be a mis-print]. I'm a bit curious what made this book so expensive. See pictures below.

Perhaps that was 79 Hong Kong dollars retail, which is not much.
