I have many many customers that have requested to be put on a email mailing list to be alerted when I put new items either on Ebay or my store front - Is there some time of softward that can handle mass emailings? also if the customer that buys from my requests in email to be put on my mailing list, is that considered spam?

as long as they request to be notified, it is definitely not spam.

If you use AW for you auctions, they have a join my email link option to put on your auctions.

I also put it in my emails I send out.

You can do a mass mailing or select the customers you want.

When creating an auction near the bottom you can get the info also in My Account, global preferences I think you can find out more.

If you do not use AW, then I have no idea.

Couldn't you just put them in your address book that your e-mail account uses? I think most will let you put the addresses into a group and then you can just do your newsletter and send them all out with one click.

Most good email software lets you make a list. Set it so that it does not reveal everyone you mail to.
