Got the buyer from hell:

Sold the guy an item, it was a multi part thingie so I gave him a break and only sold him the part he really wanted and we haggled out a reasonable price.

Payment arrrives promptly, I send the item out, leave positive feedback.

Last week he gets the item, VERY unsatisfied and claims I deliberaterately misrepresented the item. (I didn't, the auction had a scan but whatever.) I had a 1200+ feedback it HAD to be intentional. (I guess it never ocurred to him people with 4 digit feedbacks are human too.)

The e-mail expressing his dissatifaction also stated 1) "I'm filing an insurance claim and getting 75% back "

2) "Don't bother e-mailing me, I won't read them anyway."

Sent a few e-mails offering full refund plus shipping.

No response.

So I figure if he won't deal with me directly, I'll open a Square Trade file and make the same offer- full refund plus shipping.

In his only direct e-mail to me he refuses to deal with Square Trade and he refused the refund offer because he wants to be compensated for his time. Which becomes his mantra throughout.

In 2 e-mails to Square Trade (which he CC'd to me) he tells them he won't deal with them either, it's a waste of his time and money. Not sure why he figured it was going to cost him anything to simply agree to my offer, but anyway.....)

In a third one he tells Square Trade that 100% refund won't compensate him for his time . He wants compensation for time and money.

In a fourth E-mail to Square trade he comes up with this brainstorm that to prove my sincerity, I should use "Buy It Now" and buy back the item from him (which he relisted on Ebay).

At no time did he e-mail me directly, everything is CC's of e-mails to Square Trade. Square trade never passes any of these on to me directly because he won't negotiate with them.

Square Trade e-mailed me back saying he refuses to negotiate through them. (What negotiation? I'm offering him his money back and have several times, all he has to do is say yes and return the item. I'm practically begging this turkey to take my money.)

I e-mailed him again with the offer of full refund, which he again ignored. He also has not put in his insurance claim because I can prove I offered a refund and he'll never collect.

There is no way in hell I'm going to buy the item back at auction when he repeatedly said that full refund will not compensate him for his time. I figure he'll take the money, not send the item, and resell it again.

Which seemed to be his original plan with filing an insurance claim and then reselling the item.

I can't talk to him and neither can anyone else. Meanwhile, the item sits on Ebay and he'll probably sell it at a loss.

I was depressed at first because I tried to work it out but he's totally unreasonable. Now I'm just pissed off and given up trying.

Sorry for the long post, I needed to vent.

As I see it you done all you could do to remedy the problem.

At this point its obvious that he doesn't want to work it out with you.

Keep all your e-mails as proof, and block him from bidding and e-mailing you.

Move - on, and let him make the next move.

Sent a few e-mails offering full refund plus shipping.

Past that, I wouldn't have wasted my time. That is the accepted method of handling a customer complaint (give 'em their money back). Anyone who isn't happy with that, OH WELL...

I wouldn't even bother with this. The person is completely unreasonable. If he gives you a neg just respond to it. Since you said you already left positive feedback for him all you can do is add another comment under your postive stating your current feelings about the transaction. Don't waste anymore of your time and energy with this kind of nonsense.

There are those who would complain if you offered them a kidney. There is nothing more you can/could do. Block this buyer from bidding on any future auctions and move on. Any more energy spent on this is wasted.

I agree with the others, and don't take offense, but you invested wayyy too much time and energy into the guy. You offered a full refund, he refused, that should be the end of it.

There are people on the internet who literally have no life and this is how they entertain themselves, by punching people's buttons, and since you keep responding, he keeps punching. Just drop him out of your life and move on.

I agree with wbbell. My mother would say some people would #*!@ if you hung them with a new rope.

Your anger and frustration is the actual item up for bid. It's their prize.

vorlon4 can't respond to the positive he left to the buyer until the buyer responds to the positive.

Unfortunately it sounds the buyer is unhappy and will be no matter what you do. Sometimes with customer service you need to let it run off you and move on.

It sounds like you didn't do anything wrong IMHO so just vent and forget

Not true. Now you can leave a follow up at any time, even if the recipient of the feedback has not responded to it.

Thanks for the input all.

After 2 days of dealing with the clown I pretty much decided to forget it. It just irritated the hell out of me, still does (hence the venting.)

I've just never run into someone so dim as to refuse a full refund and sell the item at a loss before, just bizarre.
