I was cleaning out my closets this weekend and I have several garments hanging in my closet still with the tags that I just have never worn. Some are name brands (Talbots, Liz Claibourne, Ralph Lauren) and I hate to give them to Goodwill or Salvation Army and I was going to put them up on ebay (I've never sold clothing before).
The reason why I haven't worn most of the clothing is because I bought it on clearance and then when I got it home it just never worked..it was a tad too small (I was going to lose the 10 lbs...right) or too long and I never got them hemmed or I couldn't find anything to match it or....the list goes on and on.
I know that listing clothing New With Tag (NWT) seems to bring higher bids but most of these tags have the clearance stickers on them. I don't want to remove the tags but are the buyers going to be upset when they found out that the $158 Ralph Lauren pants they bought have a red clearance price of $30.99?
Should I remove the tags, cut away the price or just forget about it?

Personally, I cut off the sale price if I can do it without disturbing the original price. If necessary, I mark out the sale price with a black marker -- be careful not to get the marker on the clothing. Do NOT remove the tags!

Tataly agree,
Try to remove the part with the sale price,
Sometimes the have the retail price printed on the tag and they put a sticker
With the sale over it (peel of the sticker)
Or they write in over it, so black it out,
Sometimes I was unable to do either, so
I wrote the retail down on the other side and I had to cut of a half of the tag,
The point is that the clothes are new and they have a tag (or part of it)
Which usualy indicates that it hasn't been worn yet, if you have to cut off a part,
Just write that in the desc.
I did it on my auctions running right now,
"half of the Skas tags is missing, retail was
$180.00, all tags attached"
Good luck!

I sell mostly NWT clothing items. KEEP THE TAGS ON!
I usually take off all the prices, original and sales. I usually do not mention the retail price in my ad. If I for some reason did mention the retail price I am sure to leave that portion on to back up what I said.
Usually the sale sticker will come off easy by using your fingernail. If they are the big tags like Dillard's uses I pile off the the whole markdown tag to leave only the original tag attached. Ocassionally, some of the markdown tag simply will not come off but as long as I have removed the price portion I am happy.
