Register for Stamps.com's Power Plan for $18.99 per month
And Get:
* $25 FREE Postage
* FREE Digital Scale ($50 worth)
* $25 CompUSA Gift Card
You have to keep this plan for at least one pay cycle of $18.99, so FINAL cost is $18.99.
I would be a new customer (which this is for).
I doubt I would keep this for longer than I have too, but does anyone know how good the digital scales are?
If I did decide to keep an E Pstage system I would probably go to www.endicia.com because
I've heard a lot of good reviews. I may try pitney-bows (sp?) as another posibility to Endicia.
From experience, how hard is it to cancel a stamps.com membership?
Also, can stamps.com be used with an INK Jet Printer? (I wish I had a laser)

I used Stamps.com for about 2 years. I can't recommend them for anything.
They are the most expensive plan out there.
They don't offer free Delivery Confirmation.
Their customer service SUCKS and is basically NON-EXISTANT.
When you try to close your account they give you SO MANY problems, and continue to bill you.
I've heard MANY stamps.com users who said when the closed their account, they were charged the $25 they gave you in free shipping in the beginning.
I closed my account 1 day after my last billing cycle - and for that 1 day I was charged $18.99 for the next month. They refuse to credit you for the 29 days you don't use their program.
All in all: STAMPS.COM are nothing but crooks. Do a search here for all the Stamps.com stories and you will see all the problems users have with them.
If you are looking for a WONDERFUL service with AWESOME customer service, CHEAPER monthly fees which also offers FREE DELIVERY CONFIRMATION on all Priority packages (only 12¢ for other packages) then look into www.Endicia.com.
They are OUTSTANDING! I closed my Stamps.com account and switched to Endicia a couple months ago and I couldn't be happier with them!

Thanks for the advice. I thought some would
think it was a "dumb" question because it sounded so great. After all, why wouldn't
anyone want a good deal. What I really wanted was the scale? Can anyone recommend a good scale (digital or or otherwise) that would work well for packages under six pounds?

I orederd my scale online from officedepot.com, it is a stamps.com 10 lb digital scale with a USB hookup to my computer and it works wonderfully with my endicia account. It was about 50 dollars.

Hi ~ just do a search on ebay for 10lb postal scales and you'll find several! I have a Stamps.com scale, but it works fine with my Endicia account. I sure wouldn't recommend signing up with Stamps.com just for the free scale... they are very tricky..

Stamps.com service is extremely variable.
I had heard horror stories about folks being billed for several months past canceling. However, in my case they closed out my account promptly , have not false-billed me, and even sent me the remaining postage in my account. All of 7 cents.
The scale will be useful to you if you switch to endicia. They support the stamps.com scale. I was unfortunate enough to have entered them before the "free scale" deal and paid $50 for mine.
I have been using my scale constantly for 7 or 8 months without a hitch. But a few have posted here saying the scale was a hunk of junk.
I have also heard that they will deduct back your free $25 postage but not sure under what circumstances.
My gut feel says go with it and get the free scales, and cancel when you have met your end of the bargain.
You can use any printer with endicia. Stamps.com is more limited.

The service was adequate at best. Overpriced in today's market, tho!!!
The scale is a piece of crap! Like someone else said, check ebay for scales. You can get a great scale for much less (if all you need is a 10lb scale).
I've been reading in many threads of other places that are vastly better in every regard!
