I just got a nasty note from a bidder asking why they have not recieved their book... The bidder paid me Monday the 10th, I shipped Tuesday just before the NYC tragedy... The bidder lives in New York State and the book went Bookrate (that's what they paid for).

How can anyone expect the book today? Surely they are aware of the weeks events.

I sent them the tracking number, but it is still in Illinois and I wonder how long it will take to get there, it is obviously out of my control.
I just cannot imagine anyone in New York State asking why an item is not there yet...

I am not waiting for my buyers to question shipment; I e-mailed this letter to high bidders yesterday:

====================
Hi,

I wanted to let you know in advance that due to the severity of the attack on Manhattan, any mail either coming to or from me (I live and work in Long Island, one of the 5 boroughs of New York City) will be severely impacted. Other locations across the country are also affected, as plane service has been disrupted and packages cannot fly to any junction point of their final destination.

Please be patient as the postal service re-routes mail and determines alternative methods to ship packages outside of this local area.

Delays could be significant and they are not estimating ANYTHING concrete at this time.

Some packages might "slip through" and actually be delivered promptly, and that is what I am hoping for all of my buyers!

Many thanks in advance for your understanding.

God Bless,

Beth

I have heard of this before. Several years ago a woman I worked with sent a pacage to New York. It went via NJ. One of the hangers at that airport had a major fire the next day, so the airport shut down. This woman spent the whole day on the phone berating the carrier. She could not grasp it was illegal to go into the airport or that they would be risking their lives for her package.
Some people are so selfish it is unbelivable!
