We received an email today saying in essence, the item arrived ok and was nice, but that the person was not happy with the packaging. The priority box was small and the item was in a ziplock bag instead of wrapped with tissue paper like other sellers do.
It was 1 item of clothing so what does it matter that the box was small and we've never had a complaint before that the item wasn't wrapped in paper. In fact this was the first ever complaint we've had about our packaging methods.
We haven't responded to the email yet and may not respond at all.

I buy a lot of clothes on eBay. They arrive in tissue, large zip lock bags or in a box. I never even thought about complaining that it wasn't wrapped in tissue. I think placing clothing in a bag is nice because it keeps any liquid or dirt off the clothing...
You could tell them that you place it in a zip lock to keep it clean and unsoiled until it reaches their doorstep.
and I would be slightly offended, but wouldn't let it ruin my day.

Hi,
I sell a lot of clothes and I always ship in a plastic bag.
I've never had any complaints either. As a matter of fact, I've had a few compliments on it.
I've heard about the tissue paper before, but it doesn't make much sense to me. But I certainly wouldn't even mention it if something came to me that way.
Some people just have to find something to complain about I guess.

I agree with Mrs Q. Maybe that person is having a crummy day today and wrote that without realizing that you packed it as you did to protect it. There was certainly nothing wrong with how you packed it. I can't imagine what would have ticked them off...Hope it works out ok for you.

I would not be offended--I would be miffed. Some of these people of late think we have nothing to do but cater to their whims irregardless of our personal policies and practices.
I have often wondered if they dictate to LL Bean and other major mail order firms. You can bet they don't.
I would much rather have a nice item wrapped in toilet paper than a marginal item wrapped in gold lame! I don't even use ziplock bags for many textile items. I use sealable PVC envelopes and no box. Same way most mail order firms send clothing to me.
Chalk it up to the buyers idiosyncracies and continue to do business the way you choose to do it. Or you could ask if she is willing to pay a handling charge of $1.00 per item or so to pay for unnecessary packaging materials that will just end up in a landfill!

Thanks,
I've decided just to ignore it. I'm probably just being hyper-sensitive today.

Glad it was not me bidder - I usually do no pack my clothing in a box. The small shirt box weights over 5 ounces and the large one is over 8 ounces - just makes the postage higher.

Geesh!!!!! I think in light of what's going on in the world today, that lady needs to re-think her priorities!!! Offended???? I don't think you need to give this a second thought! Whoever said she should be glad you put it in a plastic bag was right! After all, we can't read each other's minds to figure out how each buyer expects to have their item wrapped!!! Geesh!!!!! She got it, safe and sound, she likes it....sounds like someone who needed to complain about SOMETHING, and it ended up to be your packing! GEESH!

A nice new clean zip lock bag sounds good to me. Keeps whatever it is clean and dry. Maybe she would have been happy with the item wrapped in tissue and *then* zipped into the plastic bag????
Sounds like one of those people that matter what you do or don't they will find something to crab about.... You just can't please people like this so I don't try.

I sell mostly clothing. I ship in a ziplock bag, because it keeps it dry. (red and white striped shirt, sitting wet on a doorstep all day....YUCK!) And then I ship in a tyvek envelope. Boxes weigh too much! I also then give them the option of shipping first class or priority. By shipping first class in a tyvek envelope, I can ship some of my items for under a buck!

I would not be offended--most bidders have np idea how something should be shipped. The difference between what works for retail packaging and the battering something endures in the mail are quite extreme.

I sell quite a bit of clothing. I always package them in a plastic bag before boxing. Most people like receiving that way.

I can't believe that anyone would have the gumption to complain that you failed to wrap their item in tissue! Perhaps they would also like a mint and you to come turn down their bed linen as well. SHEESH! You have my full permission to tell this person to get bent!
To put it in a ziploc bag is completely adequate and is actually way beyond what most sellers will do. We buy kids clothes and very frequently get the item unwrapped in a manila paper envelope!

Hi,
Well, I work with outoftheblue and want to say thank you for your support. I couldn't believe it when the email arrived, she was very condescending about it. It was a quite expensive item, and she raved about how nice it was, but just had to gripe about something I guess.....
She did leave a nice feedback as well.... so we will just let it go away.
Just so you know, I mail almost everything priority mail, but I do offer the choice of Tyvek bag or box in order to save some money if possible. I will mail first class if someone asks.
