Tropical Storm Gabrielle is about to make landfall and there may be communication and shipping delays in our area. Please be patient with sellers from this area.

I'm in Clearwater, FL and we are getting just a lot of rain and wind. Traffic was the same as always although some schools are closed as a precaution. It's only a tropical storm... and we Floridians are used to it. This is supposed to blow through the Tampa Bay area by mid-day so there is no excuse for deadbeats.

I'm in Spring Hill, Florida, about 40 miles north of Tampa. We had slow steady rain all night and all morning, and it's not showing any signs of letting up. But it's not bad. A few light gusts of wind now and then. We're about to go run a few errands -- it's not even bad enough to make driving particularly dangerous.
I grew up in Florida, and the only people who get worried about this type of storm are the non-natives.

Tree damage will occur and power lines may also be down. Stay indoors if possible

The only news I've heard in the last few days is about the WTC tragedy. I guess I need to read these boards to keep up with what is happening in the rest of the world. This is the first I've heard about Gabrielle. Thanks for the info.

I'm in Citrus County, and we are getting lots of rain (which we need). This storm may take down a few trees, rip the shingles off some houses, and kill the power for a little while, but it ain't no Andrew. (we lost a house in Homestead to Andrew, but this one is a baby storm)

The land is so dry right now as a result of our drought and water shortage.
The storm is wind and rain.
No biggie.
The power loss and flooding is the primary issue and time will tell with that.
Business as usual in South East Florida ~ I just got back from the Post Office.
(no line, yippee!!)

Wow! I have been so into the tragedy of Tuesday I haven't looked at the weather. Thanks, normally what Florida gets going west, sooner or later we will also feel the results of...
Off the subject, but If you haven't read the post by JWPC, you might like to check out the profound link they put up to:

Hey its not all funny hahahaha
As of this morning 20,000 people in our area are without power. We are one of those our power went out due to downed trees on lines as of 5.a.m. this morning.
It just came bakc up 20 mins ago,we have extensive flooding down here.Etc etc etc.
So we where not able to do much today by way of packing because we could not get online to verify what was sold.
Plus our PO is not open Saturday either.
The storm went in land 60 miles from here.

Greetings from ground-zero. Yesterday couldn't go anywhere- flooding. Several inches of rain last night. Power was off 0820-1725 today. Lots of trees down, couldn't get down the road. Power is now still off for 160,000 folks. I got messages out a bit ago: "If USPS is humming, and the planes are flying, and the power is on, and the water goes away, I will mail your stuff Monday."

From a small city between Tampa and Sarasota:
Tropical Storm Gabrielle hit here early this morning. The power was out until about 7:00 p.m. in the entire city. I went to the post office to mail packages--it was closed--no sign explaining why. There were no traffic lights operating. It's not that we are weather pansies, but we HAVE NO POWER!

We haven't lost our power (I don't know how, the wind has been whistling for hours), but man did we get LOTS of rain. (we needed it, the lake is over 10 foot from the end of our dock.)
