It is during these heart wrenching times when this great nation of freedom loving
people rises to its dauntless mettle. I am not native born, I am an American by choice. I am deeply wounded but these recent events but I've never been prouder to call myself an American.

I have co-worker who was also not born in this country. He loves this country, he has moved his family here and he has been most upset along with everyone else as to what is going on. He tells me that America is the best place in the world, he feels safer here than his original country - even after this. He told me that he feels sorry for us.
I told him that there is no "us". He is here in the US and embraces our ideals. We are a nation based on immigrants and if he wants to consider himself an American he has every right to. That is what this country is about.
