i have a piece that i am trying to list and in preping it to photo i realize there is more damage than i orginally saw....some of this piece is wood...some is formica??...the wood i can take care of....but the formica needs help....can this be painted.?? or what else could be done to make it look more presentable....is there a web page somewhere that tells me how to take care of the injuries ....or should i just trash it??

I have painted a fomica kitchen counter with very good results. I used latex acrylic paint and sealed it with a clear poly coating. Good luck!

thanks for that info...now i am floundering as to whether my stuff is really formica...is formica a flexable material(as in it moves some when you try to bend it back and forth)

Formica is a trade name. There are many types of laminates. Before you paint it, make sure you sand the surface very thoroughly and clean it with mineral spirits. Even if the surface looks dull, these materials provide very little "tooth" for paint. If you sand and clean it thoroughly, you should get quite nice results.
