I saw the neatest thing on an Ebay board last night. Sellers are banning together to support other sellers. They are including in their auction titles or descriptions s4s which means sellers for sellers. When you do your search for any item just add s4s in the search words. This is a great way to help those who are being hurt by the charity auctions. I clicked on after reading the message and I will try to buy from these people who are desparate for sales. Just thought it was so neat to see sellers banning together this way.

oh, sellers! Another word came to mind when I saw the title.

So how does this work? Sounds like sellers going around bidding on other seller's, uh, stuff. But a lot have been doing that for years. So, how is this s4s special?

I've often thought that it would be nice if there was a way I could communicate with other sellers to screen out really bad buyers.

I have encountered several buyers who I will never do business with ever again, but in a market as big as eBay, this is meaningless. If there was a way that I could get, say, 20%plus of sellers to avoid these buyers, that would be sweet!

I'm # 138 on the list. A site outside of ebay www.delphi.com/sellers4sellers is one place to can go to chat with the sellers and buyers. I believe we have over 2000 auctions listed with s4s in the titles or and discriptions. Just search s4s you will see. It started on Sunday I believe. There is a thread in ebay under chats-auction listing. The original thread with over 800 posts I think. It has been a place of community. Check it out for yourselfs. It is the best I have found with a simple message.

Also it is not a group that says we are suffering from chairy auctions. That is clear. It is that we sellers are going to support each other through the hard times that we have been faced with. Just away to cheer each other up. Yes, There has been active bids for many of us and many buys also. Most what I found is support if only to look at each others auctions. It I feel may be important as a large group of us sellers are joining. A much larger voice and support group will grow...

One of the motivations that started s4s was the frustration of slow sales, and the depression after Sept. 11th.

A lot of people have posted that s4s got them motivated to try to get back to work, and some people have posted wonderful stories... One person had listed and relisted something 5 times without a bidder - put it up for s4s and had a BIN for $50!

But its more than just trying to get more sales, its supporting other sellers who are suffering right now.. Yes, some of them have lost loved ones on Sept 11, that's true.. but this is NOT an effort to compete against A4A or put them down in any way. Many people are participating in both - I know I am!

so, can I just put s4s in my auction, or do I have to get permission, or join a group? I think it is a great idea, & would be interested in doing it!

Instead of Sellers 4 Sellers it should be Soup 4 Sellers. Like a charity for the ones who have had a hard time paying their bills and buying food since 9/11.

I went and looked up a few in my field of interest..and they had s4s in their title..and also had auctions up in A4A. Looks like some will go whichever way they can get extra sales.I don't blame them for wanting to get sales however they wish..but it seems a little strange going both ways.

I don't get it.

Sellers putting s4s on items (currently 2200) so that other sellers/buyers will search s4s and buy from them? Why would I want to buy because they have s4s on them?

As a buyer - I search, I buy from any seller that is responsible ( not too many negs, not too high shipping and COMPLETE descriptions).

I just don't get this s4s thing. And so many sellers are complaining about the A4A thing. I least I get that. I mean there is a purpose for A4A.

"Sellers are banning together to support other sellers."

Isn't EVER item on ebay sold by a "SELLER"?

"This is a great way to help those who are being hurt by the charity auctions."

According to this board (not including me and a few others) that would be about every other seller!

"I will try to buy from these people who are desparate for sales"

I just got to ask - Do you pull up their completed seller list and see if they really need the sale or if they just jumped on a bandwagon because well others are.

I just pick 2 items from the search. One seller in the past 30 days had 26 items listed and sold all but 1 item. The other seller in the had 107 items prior to 9/11. Sold all but 10 of them. Then listed nothing until 9/28. Listed 28 items! WOW of course they are hurting, they had nothing listed in the first place!

I still do not get it!

For the same reason there are "Buy American" advertisements.

Its an informal support group - there are no requirements to particpate nor are people screened before they join in...

It is NOT about sellers being "hurt" by charity auctions alone - many sellers feel the slowdown in the economy in general has hurt sales. We've had people here complaining about slow sales for months now.

Its also kind of fun to do a search and watch the # of S4S items grow..

It is for support. Many of us like many others everywhere had such a hard time getting back to work. It was a way for us to come togehter and support each other. I guess it was a way to not give up and move forward. Check out the H.O.N.O.R.S. list that is the original tread. It in on ebay chat auction listing. Over 900 posts on s4s. The difference it has made for me personally is that I have had many bids and placed several bids also. You know what that means to a seller that hasn't had a single look and they wake up and have a bid! Or the seller who just says hey I am so down and out I can't list and another seller says go ahead and list one for me to view, and they do and it helps them to get back into life. It is so simple, such a small kindness to each other time and time again, I guess but they are making a difference for many of us in our lifes. Over 2000 auctions with over 400 closed. It sure means something to a lot of us sellers...

richierich, I'm puzzled by this too, everyone with an item up is a seller!?? I think it's a kind of tounge in cheek retalitory joke against A4A.
