The seller had put it in a flipped around Priority mail wrapper (the envelopes!) Anyway, somewhere along the route someone must have just stuck a sticker over where it said media with a priority sticker -- but it still had stamped on it:
"Priority Mail Container Address Label Used
Priority Mail Service (Dmm e-120
Postage Due (filled in $1.72)
My post office didn't notice it was postage due and it was delievered, but man I'd be mad if I had to pay postage twice! I'm not too happy a hardcover book was sent in a Tyvek envelope anyway.

Just a thought, sometimes mail carriers will pay the "postage due" amount out of their own pocket rather than hassle with trying to collect 5 cents from someone on their route. I don't know that that's the case here -- and I figure it's less likely that a mail carrier would eat a $1.72 charge than a 5-cent one -- but it's something to consider. Maybe the post office didn't "miss" the charge, but your carrier just covered it. If you don't go the extra step of paying the PO back for it, at least be sure to remember your carrier at the holidays.

This is what feedback is for ... they tried to save themselves money on packing materials and almost made you pay for their cheapskate ways.
Let half.com know that they need to remind their sellers that PRIORITY packaging material gets charged for the PRIORITY rate, even if they turn it inside out.
