OK Sellers its time to report in! How are your sales fairing these days?
I want and need to start listing again. But to be honest with ya, I think we are all in trouble.
I have been doing seaches all week in the areas in which I sell and its getting worse and NOT better. There are way fewer listings and still no decent bids.
Today I spent most of the day researching and clicking onto the sellers other auctions and quit frankly am shocked to see as many as 2 pages expiring just today/tonight alone and maybe 4 to 6 items from those pages have bids.
HOW CAN A SELLER KEEP UP with all the fees from the unsold stuff?
I drug in a whole pile(about 5 flats) of old mag ads and sheet music today from the garage thinking maybe it would be a good time to try and get rid of that stuff because Glassware sure isn't selling.
Anyway...when I did my searches on this stuff, I gave up. Sellers have pages of these things on and just a couple of LOW bids. You would have to sell at least half of them just to cover the eBay fees.
Unless your selling NEW RELEASE DVD's or VHS's I think were screwed!
I just think the days of eBay for the vintage/collectabe seller are about over and this A4A is going to push it over the edge.
Thanks for listening!

I had 25 auctions close today, 16 of them with bids. 2 where High Ticket Items (both meet reserve, and sold).
Not collectables, but not nessasary items either.
I've had better weeks, but I can live with it, considering that the boating season is winding down.

Hi!
I only have 3 auctions up because I'm reasonably sure they will sell. I have been doing ok with Buy It Now on a few things in the last few weeks, But two weeks ago I had 4 of my mothers Vintage collectible dolls up that didn't sell with reserves ($90- $250). UGGGGH. I'm going to wait until things pick up before I start listing the more expensive things.

I've only been listing a few things at a time this month. Mostly items I'm making myself, small ticket stuff. It hasn't been too bad, but in the end it's only pocket change for us. I just listed some new stuff today, one repeat bidder already placed a bid on one item, we'll see what the next couple of days bring.

Right now I'm finding eBay sales to be very slow, like mid-summer slow. It's a waste of my time and $$ to be doing much listing right now, particularly reserve/Gallery fees. So I'm going to be putting up mostly lower-end stuff I want to get rid of or things where I know I'll have a strong interest regardless. I don't blame AFA though, I'm not seeing much desirable stuff being listed in my category for AFA.
Thank Goodness I have a viable website that continues to do well despite eBay.

I've decided with these ads and sheet music I'm just going to list them in big lots. Its just not worth my time or money to piece them out.
It just surprised me so to see these sellers with so much listed and so few bids.
I really feel bad for them. How long do you think their going to be able to keep that up?
At this time there is no way I'm going to be listing my higher value stuff.
If things are going to get better I sure wish it would do it soon.

Ebay has been very slow for the last couple of months, I have not posted anything since September 8th. I am going to hold off putting anything eles up till November, the fees are killing me.

I sell secondhand books and had a good day today. Mostly it's been fine. Amazon is a bit slower than I'd like, and my Yahoo sales aren't good right now. Basically I am listing as much as I can because the old "list more to make more" is still working for me.

I had a huge week. I had about 40 auctions end with bids, most ended higher than expected. My Vintage Barbie stuff sold at amazing prices! This is my best week in months. My bidders are back and I can pay some bills! Yippee! Happy Dance!

Contrary to everything I've said here recently, I had a great Sunday. Had some things listed for a relative and got obscenely high prices. Sell thru was 100% and I made a comfortable profit on the few things I listed for myself.
I sell antiques and collectibles and the relative's stuff is OLD and in GREAT condition. Would you believe a book for $66.00 that cost a dime when it was first printed?
As long as it isn't the same old stuff, I guess we may be back at least in the categories I use.

Auctions before the 11th did fine..I tried 11 auctions starting the 14th-21st. Had one bid out of 11. Five or six should have sold.
I luckily have a large outdoor market to do next week to get some cash flow. After the market I am hauling a couple loads to an auction. About the 20th of oct. I think i will try ebay again.
I have certain things held back that i know will sell, but getting a bid on the mediocre things right now looks pretty tough.
we deal in records and antiques and collectables.

Hi Packer (and everyone else too).
I had 25 end today, 10 with bids. A few of those 10 went higher than expected and a few ended at my opening bid. Overall it was okay-- had better weeks, but every little bit does help.
I have been doing a lot of BIN sales lately, so anything I know the relative value of I have been putting up with BIN and that has helped me too.

I'm selling almost everything I list, but for what I'm getting I am giving the stuff away. All are low end items & more than half of what I am making goes to eBay.
For instance, I just sold some items in one auction for 4.00, cost me 15.00 & postage was 80 cents.
I didn't buy these to sell, it's just something I had & no longer needed, but still, you would think I could get more than 4.00. They were still in the package, never opened too.
Most of my sales were bad, but this was the worst.

I sell in three places: eBay, Amazon, and a b&m.
I have to say that if I take into consideration the amount of time involved, eBay is performing the worst.
Amazon is so easy, I can easily list (and did today) 75 books in one day. And that was even having a two hour phone call interruption. That's also even counting the fact that there's a glitch right now when you try to use "collectible" instead of "used" for some of your items. And I'm very happy with my sales from there.
The b&m does amazingly well and also is easy.
I really think I'm going to reserve eBay for the times I have a book I think would do better w/lots of views. It makes more sense to list those on eBay than to wait for someone to walk into the shop. But even those, I'll make sure they've done well recently before I list.

From a buyer's standpoint, I'm finding both that I can get things somewhat cheaper, but loathe the fact that listings are down sharply...
It's like a store that has less stock, yet you can find little to no demand for the items you want...if there is any at all...

87 auctions just closed, with 73% sell-through.
Among them a perfume bottle that soared past $300 (reserve was $150), a popular 50's Japan trinket that went to $280 (reserve $150), a 60s purse that met reserve at $200, and 50+ pieces of fine china that I pieced out realized $600 (part of a set of 120 pcs. bought at RL auction for $475 -- and I still have half the set to list).
No-go's included a pc. of furniture that went to $187 (reserve $500), some stretch glass (no bids), and a couple of vanity items that nearly made reserve.
Let's say I'm cautiously happy.

My comps seemed to show that a similar antique furniture item sold at a good price but I am presently at less that half of what I paid for the item (with a reserve) and a week to go. Strangely enough, the hits seem to be normal according to the counters but the bids aren't there. I don't think I can afford to feature the auctions anymore at $19.95 a pop. I will just put my items out there again in a few weeks and they will have to sell without being featured. Perhaps everyone is just looking right now but afraid to buy.
Someone in another thread said that designer clothing was doing well. Other than flags, what else is selling?

I was a little hesitant to list anything for the past 3 weeks after hearing all of the slow sales from evryone. I bit the bullet and Listed some stuff that I got CHEAP and could stand to take a loss on. To my Surprise I Had BIN's on alot and all but 1 item ( a pair of mens leather italian shoes) sell.. And most went for WAY more than I had anticipated. I cant complain !

BIN items O,K.last week ~ this week bids few and far between~No BIN even~ gave my stuff away this week and am going in right now to cut some auctions off that have no bids. Am going to only list a few items like postcards and bid like crazy!I have my eye on some nice items so that should help out some sellers to at least get something going.
I sell mostly books and marketplace has started to pick up for me thank goodness or I would be crying the blues tonight! Hope it picks up but think I will wait it out before listing anything more except what I would consider " I don't care what I get! items"

Sounds like sellers are trying to off their junk while holding on to better items until sales pick up. I expect that will discourage more bidders.
My own sales were slightly better than usual, which is to say they really sucked, but not as bad as usual. Today I managed to make back my eBay fees. Items that should be getting good bids aren't selling at all.
I also sent out NPB alerts for the last six weeks - about $600 worth. Deadbeats have always been the biggest problem, but now it really pinches. I'm going to redo my web site and start driving business there for the more expensive items. Listing on eBay is a waste.

Pretty bad right now. I've 14 items ending today with only 3 bids so far, 19 items ending tomorrow with 6 bids, etc. etc.
But I'm going to keep plugging away anyway. Who knows exactly when things will pick up and if the stuff isn't up there, they can't buy it.
Of course, if I don't see any improvement over the next few weeks, I might just take a few weeks off from listing anyway, and just take pics and write descriptions in the meantime.

It's still going fair to good for me. It's testing my patience somewhat because bidding is slower, yet the final price is getting to where I like it to be, mostly in the last 24 hours. The bidders aren't letting me down for the most part.
We listed 18 auctions yesterday, some in the morning, some in the afternoon and evening. One sold for a decent price with BIN almost immediately, and we have bids on 5 others out of the remaining 17. Not bad.
Other auctions that are getting closer to the ending time are starting to pick up!
For the ones that are having a hard time getting bids, hang in there. I believe it's getting better.

100% sell through on auctions ending yesterday (12 for 12, all ended close to or higher than usual).
So far I'm at 10 for 11 on auctions ending today. Profitability on those remains to be seen (I get sniped a lot!) but it looks pretty good.

Well last night I had 20 out of 20 sell -- but it was all N gauge Train junk that normally does OK. I priced it low to see if any life is out there before the good stuff comes out. Well it all sold but only with 1 or 2 bidders with flat profits (nickel and dime stuff. In my opinion the good stuff stays in the box for now.
