Could someone out there explain this doll disease to me? Or maybe know of a site to go to? Have just bought several dolls and think 2 of them might have this. Some ebay doll sellers use the term VDS but I'm not exactly sure if it's a white powdery break-down on the surface, or what looks like ink marks but coming from inside the doll. I know there's no cure but how can I keep my other dolls from getting this?
thanks!

Sometimes old dolls have a very strong, unpleasant smell.Usually they are hard plastic dolls from the 1950's but it can happen to vinyl dolls too.The smell is caused by the chemicals in the plastc breaking down. One doll with this problem can stink up your whole house.Nothing can be done to get rid of it but it dosen't spread to other dolls.I know it sounds silly and looks funny when you do it but the only thing you can do is smell old dolls before you buy them,if they stink pass on them.
