Guy says he never got package.
After 2 months it was returned here that he did not pick it up and delivery was attempted *twice*.
He is calling the postal service liars and demanding I reship immediatly.
It costs about 15.00 to re-ship.
That would be at MY expense???
I insist on a different address since the address was correct and why bother again.
What would you do?

First verify there are no typos in the address. If no typos and you sent it to the right address, it's not your fault he didn't pick up his package. If you want to be nice you could split the cost, but I don't see where your obligated to ship at your expense. If he doesn't want to pay to have it shipped again, offer him a refund and request your FVF's, and sell it to someone who picks up their mail.

Sometimes, the postal service never leaves a pick up notice. Sometimes, when they do, it gets mixed up in the junk fliers, and gets thrown away.
There have been times when a customer (before I started using UPS) would contact me saying they did not get the item, but the delivery confirmation slip would show delivery was attempted.
Well, I would ALWAYS tell them to go check the post office to see if they were holding the package for them.
95% of the time, it was at the post office, and my buyer NEVER got a slip.
What to do is up to you.
You may just want to refund the purchase price, minus shipping.
Maybe you can send it the cheapest way, with delivery confirmation.
Or, offer to split the shipping.
It is a hard situation, with no way of knowing if your customer is telling the truth.

Kidsfeet:
Very true, I once had a customer claim she didn't get the package. I sent it to her work. I told her to ask around in the office and sure enough it was sitting there on someones desk for almost a week.
I have had the same thing happen to me and when I took the package back to the post office they shipped it without me having to pay again since my address was correct in the first place.
I too, have had several packages go "missing" and when the customer inquires at his/her local post office they end up "finding" them there with no notice left at their door.
This is not uncommon. Too bad the customer didn't alert you sooner...perhaps you could have directed them to check with their post office in time to retrieve the package before it was returned to you.

Your problem is a difficult one, because if you don't reship you will be in the wrong. But what i have done in the past, was to ask the Post Office to reship
without cost to me since the address is correct. Most of the time they will do it for you but this time add a conformation slip. And let the buyer know when you
ship so he will be looking for it.
Have you contacted the buyer on the day of shipping so he would have known
that you shipped his item, so then he would have been checking at the post office sooner then he did.
It just cost me, a replacement item and $16.00 to overnight to my buyer because when she opened the sealed box one part of the item was broken, but that was not my fault, it came that way from the manuf. but i still was out the cost of the first item, the second item and the high cost of shipping, just so she would have it for her husbands birthday, And do you think she would at least contact me that it arrived, No, she didn't even send me an email saying it arrived safely.
So, sometimes you wonder, does it really matter what you do, most people are nice and that's what keeps you doing the right thing. "Just my feeling on the matter"

Tanks all. I took the package to the PO and requested a resend 'at their expense'.
Based on the fact that they did not fill out a return form correctly they were obliged to do it at no cost to me.
I suspect the customer was too lazy to go pick up and played the odds that I would simply resend.
He did pay a good price and in todays Ebay I would be lucky to get a bid
so lets hope it gets there!
