Hi, I would appreciate some insight from book sellers who sell on half.com and on ebay.
Is there a formula for deciding on which books you list on Half.com or list as an Ebay auction?
I have boxes of books that I need to unload out of my garage and I am having a hard time trying to figure out which way is the better way.
Thanks I value the expert advice I read on these boards.
Be nice!

Half is a whole lot easier if you can get a decent price for your book. Take a look at the current prices there for each book. That ought to give you an answer.

I'm clearing out a living room that has turned into a storage bin of books. My formula:
If it's in the data base, put it on a fixed price site. If it's not - into a box.
When all the books have ended up a fixed price site, go through boxes. Sell high-end books on feeBay. Photo/coffetable/even TimeLife books do well for me at a b&m.
Low end books: lot them by topic/author/color/whatever. eBay.
Romance novels: wood burning stove.
Research on abe/addall/your favorite book search while you're setting your prices. (This way, that one in one thousand romance novel that sells for $30 doesn't end up in the wood burning stove.)

It really depends on the book, timing and providence. Some books will fly on Half or eBay and others just sit. If they sit, you are better off on Half because you aren't out listing fees. I usually start there and move books back and forth.

Don't forget Amazon Marketplace! Half.com is deadsville for me, but Amazon still cranks out the orders. If you have a lot of stock with a half-way decent chance of selling at least 40 a month, you can get the Merchant Pro account for $39.95. This saves you from having to re-list every 30 days and paying 99 cents plus 15% per sale.
As for formulas, I do put aside "right to ebay" items which are special in some way or another, but a lot of my stock I simply list on Amazon and maybe half, to list later on ebay when time allows. If they haven't already sold on Amazon, that is...
