With everything that has happened in the USA recently BUYERS and SELLERS both need to be more tolerant. I myself am waiting for some 17 items to arrive from the states, mail is coming through slow but sure.
Email was created for people to talk to one another so why not use it instead of just assuming that you have been ripped off, 99% of the folks on Ebay are honest folks so just email them and ask if they have sent payment or if your item has been mailed.
I agree with several Ebayers in that more control should be used when leaving feedback, Ebay themselves need to address this problem, if negative feedback is to be left then Ebay should decide if it is justified or not and that all avenues have been used to settle the problem

Right on Tony. However, it cannot be solved by ebay intervention and reviewing negs. Remember that everything is done with a computer program, and I wouldn't want the programmers in charge of it. But I don't see why there is such a rush sometimes to post a neg. How about 30 days minimum from the auction's closing? Might help. In 2 situations where I might have negged, phone calls straightened things out. Saved 4 negs (2 each way). Of course, selling internationally kind of foregoes this solution.

I agree adults should be adults and should work things out first. I also gave up a long time ago expecting all people to be reasonable - on eBay or real life. Most are, some aren't.
I honestly don't believe hot headed feedback dissuades buyers from bidding. If I see negative feedback left and there's no pattern of the same kind being left over and over, I figure either the buyer made a mistake but runs their business just fine, or that the person who gave the feedback was being unreasonable.
eBay does ask you to try to resolve everything before leaving feedback. If they have to monitor it, it's going to cost money. I don't really want to pay for it.

I'd be inclined to agree, Sadie, except for an auction I had not long ago. Buyer had bid and purchased lots of items over the last two months. Great feedback with a negative hidden in the middle. "Fast pay" "Great buyer" -on and on. But my item? No pay-no answer to emails-even though they were bidding and buying all along. I wondered why they wouldn't pay for my item along with the others. Not even a response after I left a neg. Strange. BTW, the other neg was for the same thing-no pay and no response.
