Ewwww! Don't need anything else in my household that produces gassy odors. Already have a husband & a dog for that.

Ozone is O3, as in H2O, normal oxygen is O2, but when charged with electric, it bonds 3 molocules... O3.
They use the machines to take contaminants out of the air by breaking down complex molocules into H2O and CO2.
Ozone by it's self will only last about 20 minutes, it loses it's "charge" and turns into O2.

Not unless you want to trade it for the husband AND the dog!
Maybe you could sell it to the government to repair the hole in the ozone layer???

I looked this up on Google and the only reference I could find was the machine was talked about by Edgar Cayce in a 1944 article.
He said it wasn't particularly effective for this one patient he was giving a "reading" to. Even more weird.
Well, Halloween is coming up.
---------------------
Cayce was a psychic and a "healer", so I am convinced it's a quack device.

As far as ozonators go...
My brother died a couple of months ago, he was dead in the house for one week before he was found. There was serious decomposition and odor. The clean up company put ozonators in the house for a couple of days to clean up the odor. It worked. While I didn't see the machines they were using, (we were forbidden from entering until the house was 'cleared' ) this probably was designed for a similar type of deal, and machines that work along the same lines are still used.
BTW, the ozone smell stayed in the house for weeks afterward, but is completely gone now.
You may get a very good price for that, but I wouldn't say it is a quack device.

Loosecannon; Does the device give off an static shock when touched? If so it's more like a Violet Wand device. I've had these in the past and after one sold high I found out that they are now used by S&M couples as a torture device....no kidding.

I'm very sorry about your brother.
I know that ozone generators are still in use, but I'm sure that modern ones are more useful than this relic. With the neon tubes, it seems to be more "show" than anything else. I got a little booklet with it too, and it has all kinds of doctors singing it's praises. I don't know. Maybe 50 or 60 years ago they really believed in such a thing. But I swear if you breathed this thing's gassy odors for long, you'd keel over.
godfatherstoys
I don't know if it gives a shock or not, but I won't be trying it out. I've got the photo to prove the thing works, and I'll never turn it on again.

Fresh out of bats. Sorry.

NEAT!
The "neon" is actually the glow from the high-voltage field that generates the Ozone.
Ozone is a disinfectant, but also very irritating to the eyes and respiratory system.

Ozone will not only oxidize and remove organic material in the air such as cause smells but You will find that it makes organic materials such as fiber and rubber deteriorate. It also kills airbourne bacteria. The level at which ozone causes permenant damage to the lungs is in the parts per million range. You don't actually smell the ozone. You are smelling the oxides of nitrogen from the oxone reacting with that part of the air. If you lived in a home with this running for a number of months you would find your wool clothing weak and easy to damage, older electronic devices with failing insulation, and scarring on your lungs starting you on the road to emphysema. I doubt if a pet bird would last very long around it.

Interesting gravid. And the booklet that came with it lists all kinds of benefits listed from it's use, quotes from doctors (likely ficticious characters), and so on.
Quote...
Ozone--The preferred therapy
Ozone--For Insomnia, Hay Fever, Bronchitis, Tuberculosis, Anemia, Dyspepsia, Constipation, Headaches, Inactive Liver and Kidneys, Syphillis
And on and on
That's just a few of the things it's supposed to be good for. LOL!
I think the thing is dangerous. I wouldn't use it for anything.
Strange odors, metallic taste in your mouth (I wasn't kidding about that) and I ran the thing for only a couple of minutes. Imagine if it was run for hours or days. Probably dangerous levels of electrical field energy too.

Love this thread.
Where did you find this & did it scare you with all that crackling when you plugged it in?
This is one auction I'm going to enjoy watching. I sort of feel that it will do very well.

I found it in an out-of-the-way place. I also heard of an old doctor in a nearby town that used quack devices. I don't think the people that I got it from thought it was very interesting.
I thought the crackling sound and look of the glass tubes was way cool, it was the "gassy odors" that scared me. Made me think of the poor people that might have actually used it.

loosecannon Did you ever read the book, The Road to Wellville, or see the movie?
Based on an actual character. A real nut of a doctor that had a health sanatorium full of gadgets like the Ozone Generator. Made me think of the book & the movie. I believe he is also the person who invented Kellog's Cornflakes, in fact I think his name was Kellog.
Well anyway, if he didn't have one, he sure missed out on a "good one"
As for the crackling it would scare me because I would think it was going to blow up!
I still think it's a neat find.

No, I haven't seen that one or read the book, but it sounds interesting. I'll look for it, thanks!
I put the devil-machine on last night and it received the opening bid sometime last night. Hopefully it will do OK.
I need it to do OK because of the clown that retracted his stinkin' bid and caused a $51 auction to go back to $13! He has *only* 31 bid retractions in the last month. I wrote safeharbor about it--hopefully he'll be booted.
